and the RTC in a 65 is truely a temp situation(we've all heard that before) then why not just fudge the numbers a little. Your 65g growout and "accidentally" turn into a 265g growout with a typing error.

I think this is some of what the OP is upset with.

A 265 is still not enough for a full grown RTC, so why is an owner of a RTC in a 265 yelling at an owner of a RTC in a 65?

There is a message in a white box that says "it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeeks, why not take a few minutes to..."

Well, I will tell you why. It has been my experience that SOME people on the forum like to put down others for what they have to say. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I can appreciate that, with that said, alot has to do with HOW poeple choose to impart their opinions onto others. If ask a question about what do I feed my arowana, I would get ridiculed because the tank it's in is too small, or my filtration isn't good enough, when ALL I want to know is what are feeding options for an arowana. My specialty is in catfish, always have been, but I would be slaughtered for saying I have five baby redtails that I am growing out and "Training" in a 65 gallon tank. I would love to share the story, but it's not worth the aggravation of fighting with people. Simply put, people come here for help, not to have their rear ended handed to them. I will continue to read, but as far as posting... well, I just did.

Posting about not posting :nilly:

My advice. If you know you are going to get flamed because people are going to disagree with the conditions you are keeping your fish in, then leave that part out. It is not necessary to tell people the size of the tank, what filtration you are using, what the tank mates are, etc. to find out what to feed an arowana. Just say: "Hi people! New to keeping arowanas, purchased one recently and was looking for feeding suggestions" vs "Hi people. I am keeping my brand new arowana in a tank that is way too small for it. So not only can I not house it properly, but I also don't know what to feed it. Any suggestions? Lots of love!"

See the difference? If you know the majority of the fish keeping population is going to disagree with something you are doing, telling them you know best and are doing it anyway is kind of confrontational.. Especially when you come to a forum looking for help... In fact, I believe they call that trolling...

i see where this is coming from, a lot of times i have seen people on here thinking they are experts and automatically disprove peoples practices because they are different then what those self proclaimed "experts" have to say. when i give advice and log off i feel like im logging on to defend what i said earlier and not to help people. but with that being said the community on here are very encouraging and i have not had any real issues with anyone because i try to only give advice about things i understand 100%. this forum is made up of people dedicated to the proper care of aquatic life, not yahoo answers where people mostly have no clue what they are talking about so people on here get riled up when they see someone treating an animal poorly when information is plentiful online. i think you should come back on mfk but with a different attitude and sometimes you have to learn to ignore haters-but only when they are wrong of course-.

Then don't disclose the tank size, just ask what to feed arowanas. people here actually care about the fish, and dont like to see them mistreated- they aren't trying to be mean, they just love these animals. if your going to stop posting because someone is suggesting you create a better environment for your pets, then i guess this forum is probably better off without you.

I agree on a level with the OP because I think that some members generally care about the fish at stake while others really just love to tell you how superior they're tanks are and what not and they just sound childish and absurd. Do I think an RTC will need more then 265 gallons? Of course! Do I necesarily think they need 1000 gallons? No absolutely not. People need to understand sometimes that no matter what they say people will not return there fish in most circumstances and its much much better to let them learn from experience then to constantly berate them. But on the other side 5 RTC's is pretty absurd. They're are really only a handful of members that could come anywhere close to being able to house that many.

Stop whining. . .
If u are not going to post, juz don't post. What's your point in saying all these ? Expect people to pity U ? Look at what u are doing to YOUR FISHES and not expect anyone to ridicule u ? If I were to throw u in a one room n expect u to do EVERYTHING inside, how would u feel ?

Take it down a noch there killa.........

Posting about not posting anymore??? :nilly: Seriously though, if you "know" that you're doing everything right, your fish are healthy and happy, and the RTC in a 65 is truely a temp situation(we've all heard that before) then why not just fudge the numbers a little. Your 65g growout and "accidentally" turn into a 265g growout with a typing error. That way maybe the responses will be a little closer to what you're looking for. Another suggestion for the mods that might help with these situations would be an ignore button that enables you to block posts from certain members. I know a few that I wouldn't mind seeing dissapear.

There's already an ignore post feature available to the OP of a thread.
