I keep _A_ Piranha because I started doing research for fun, as I did so I became more and more intruiged by the beauty and grace of these fish in spite of their bad reputation.
It's a learning experiance for me to have one. Plus I love watching him "hunt" his food, which is cichlid pellets, FD Plankton/Bloodworms, and occasionally tropical fish flakes. I do not offer my P live food, as I would feel bad for the prey item.
As for the agression thing, I don't care if he EVER comes out of his shell and attacks the glass, or anything that moves outside of his tank. I love all of my fish, and I treat them like they're part of my family, simply because they are. There is no way you can properly care for a pet, and not care ABOUT it.
How I got into piranhas is easy. A friend of mine and her boyfriend got into piranhas, and when she was telling me about them, how impressive the size on them is, and how she came to care about them too. I started looking at them. As I looked, I became intruiged by them. Had my local petstore never gotten them in, I may not have ever gotten one. I had a chance, I got one, and I wouldn't trade my little "man eater" for the world. He is a pet, who is to be treated like a loaded weapon, considering when a goldfish has a bad day, it can't take a chunk out of you, but a piranha can.
Beyond that, if you aren't amazed by our choice of fish, that's your perogative, I'm not big on some of the other fish that are on here, and I'm sure not many are in love with my choice of fish either. But you are you, and I am me, therefore we're not going to like the same things. If we did, how boring would that be?
I hope you can see these fish for what they really are, an amazing creature with untold beauty in their own special way, instead of the bloodthirsty savages that all of the idiots who fall for all that hype say they are.
