The eggs never got fungus on them they hatched to soon for it to grow in 2.5 days its mostly a genetic defect only maybe one in twenty have it and as for the water quality I change the water 50% percent one week and 60% the next week keep alternating I was thinking about starting a thread on it but about everyone ive gone through seems to have either not many responses or a pissing contest on being man enough to cull fry

I figured you stayed on top of your water. So yeah I'd go with genetics... but the only thing that throws me off is the one that fixed it self. Injuries can heal... deformities can't. So that's a tough one man. Lol

Your right on the short body subject that's why I don't ask about them anymore... I take what I learn from what I do and go from there.

Thats exactly why I'm stumped and asking I guess the only logical solution is to stick them somewhere and find out I'll start a thread on the progress that way it might answer some questions while saving some good looking fry

Bent or folded pectoral fins don't straighten out they actually get worse as the fish grows.

What pissing contest were you referring too? Was it my comment about deformed sb should be culled? Breeding takes a little common sense and breeders should have the desire to only breed for quality fish.

So what did you mean by that then? Lol settle down I was just asking.
Culling hybrid fry vs pure species isn't quite the same.

And before anybody says anything... she is not being used as a breeder because I have to much respect for the hobby.
I lost her father so I paired her mother with another male. The mother had numerous "short body" shapes(im guessing some were good but I appearently chose the bad to raise) from being paired to the male I lost. This new male I have her paired with has produced all fry with straight spines... so now I will be raising different stock. lt will be interesting if I get a short body from this batch or any batch this pair produces...
