Why no large UNFADED bp?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
a good breeder chooses good fish to breed. They arent forced to breed what they don't like.

What hobby does massacre stuf like this? lol

And Im sure many of them considered LQ never got a chance to ever show their true self.

cichlids arent born fully developed but ,actually, the opposite.

ok mr god hitler.

Maybe we dont fit to be a breeder if you dont know what to do with them to the point you have to kill them.

They stupid fish and kill their own family members.

Who knows who he's talking to lol... I can't even get my question answered(just wanted an opinion). But I'm not breeding her so it don't matter.

Hell this thread so far off subject... I'm about to start another one dealing with the same subject this title is about. You all can carry on...

Crush just make sure to at least grow her out a while longer. She may develop swim bladder issues or other organ development issues.

Oh I wasn't expecting health issues... thanks for bringing that up. I will surely watch for that. But with her having a slight bulge... I didn't really want to pass the "kinky" gene. My whole reason for her even being part of this convo is because she was one of the biggest of her siblings... she passed the survival of the fittest test. So with that being said she was worthy of being bred but I don't want to pass along that bulge... we'll see how she developes with time.

No offense but you weren't expecting possible health issues with a fish that has a bulging, crooked spine?

None taken. Well I went over the thread you posted on here that Izzy made because it was my first time seeing it. It brought up some good points... but Animalguy had a good point as well. One should breed fish that is of better quality then you won't have to cull. The issue with my situation was she was a dominant fish from 2 pure fish... not a hybrid. The argument yal were having was culling when creating "hybrids." As I stated before I have seen bp with this same issue and it is more obvious(matter of fact I own 1).

So to answer your question... no. She turned 7 months on the 12th and she is the same bully she came up as. Let me say again that the "bulge" shows but is not that obvious nor does it show like "damn whats wrong with her?" I speak on it because I know it's there. Also it does not keep her from chasing a fish to the other side of the tank. So are you saying these health issues will develop out of no where? The only health issues I see her having will come from me slacking on her water quality.... I keep her with my red mammon so that's not going to happen.

But in all honesty, like I said before I have to much respect for the hobby to breed her and sell to the public. She will just be my unique texas.

Can't remember where I found this first pic but she is shaped like this fish... I wonder if its spine was kinked? Second pic is of her and a couple mammon.

The internal problems can start becoming apparent with growth . The spinal issue can get more severe with growth as well. Keep her if she's healthy and you like her but yea you don't want to breed her. I just recommend strict deformity culling with shortbodies. There is alot to look out for but its worth it when you see a healthy adult sb.

If I'm breeding for expressed traits in my hybrid projects the fish that don't express the traits I'm after are culled, and that's just the way it is. You can breed 2 mp fh and will still end up with some less desirable fish. Oddballs are cool but I don't want to sell lesser quality fish.
I have saved a few nice color pearly runts from a few spawns and stocked a relative's tank with them lol.

Internal problems have shown up pretty quick in the batch of fry im on within a couple of weeks I was noticing extreme bloating through out the fry no matter how much I fed but eventually all that had problems died out and I had no more issues of that nature with the rest of the fry since
