Why won't my snake eat????

Well thanks Jason. Would reptile bark better? I remembered that the Pet stores here sell that store. At the one Pet store, They have birds to frogs. They have BPs And andacondas, etc. And in their BPs Enclouser, they have reptile bark..... And i took the danr heat rock out.......

I like to use Eco-Earth coconut fiber. It holds humidity very well, looks great, and won't cause impaction if a little bit is eaten by mistake. I don't want to imagine what would happen if a snake was to swallow a sharp piece of reptile bark.

Wow! I have never seen an anaconda in a pet store. Talk about a huge commitment. Aggressive and gets huge! Do people rely keep these to full size?

yes. its an albino. Next time i go there i'll get a pic. Its acutally the owners. He raised it in his bath tub.

the andaconda is a green andaconda and someone brought it in, the albino python was his.

Sounds better. I will look onto that. Scratch that, i will get some. Um will like sand for hermit crabs be ok in there off to one side?

yeah but looks horrible, its ok for someone who has a ton of tanks and is breeding or something so they have them in separate room but for a show case reptile that you want people to look at def would want something that looks more natural, and i think the bark or coconut fiber looks great and is even easier to clean than newspaper because you only have to take out the couple of pieces that got soiled instead of replacing with all new sheets every day, though your right on the cost factor that is always a plus lol, but yeah OP it sounds like you are moving in the right direction and after you implement all these new changes your guy should be good as new and earing regularly, i now my girl never turned down a meal lol she was the fattest, least picky ball ever lol

I'd stay away from sand. It can get in between scales and lots of other places it shouldn't be on a snake.

I'd use reptile carpet before newspaper, just because it looks nicer. You can buy indoor/outdoor carpet at lowes/Home Depot and cut it down to size for dirt cheap. It's machine washable too. The only possible downside (Which can happen with newspaper too) is snakes like to get under it so make sure you have a t-stat on the UTH.

As far as hot rocks are concerned, I don't get the drama at all. I've never seen one "Fail" and "Cause burns" (Must have been a pretty stupid snake to lay on a rock that was burning it). Hot rocks are designed for direct belly heat; they put out a smooth, steady heat. Not the dangerous aperatus people paint them out to be. That said, I would rather use a UTH.

Repti bark is OK but i've had it get stuck in a few snakes mouths when they are eating. The snake finds this uncomfortable and it's a bit of a hassle handling a freshly-fed snake with a tweezer, trying to get a piece of bark off it's teeth.
