yeah i know, they are both young so they can stay together for a little while and i am not sure if he is a spotted gar, the guy in the store was pretty convinced it was a crocidile, and he does look like the guys on this link, PM me with what you guys think, thanks :nilly:

you have a Florida gar, nice looking specimen too. more often than not, the gars that are not longnose/shortnose/alligator that one sees in the LFS are Florida gars and not spotted gars (as is the case here).

great pics xander fishes are looking well. if you were in the states i would take the FRT off your hands as we have a tank opening up in the near future (and FRT's and gars are not a good combo :P).

keep up the good pics!--

thanks! and yeah. it's been in and out of the tank due to lack of space around the house. combined with the fact that it's not my turtle, and i couldn't sell it away. but i have managed to get the owner to agree to pass it to a friend/member here. so it should be gone soon!:):)

i have a 10 in florida in a 55 gallon tank and i m planning on building a plywood tank 6x2x2. does ne body know how many gallons that would be and i have a 29 g tank i want to take apart and use the glass in the front with braces inbetween ech pane of glass to hold them. its alot cheaper than buying a new pane of glass. does that seem like a good idea? or should i just save up for one solid peice?

Your gars are amazing looking. My biggest tank is 55 so no gars lol.

I read they are big jumpers and can break glass cover. Is this true ?

yes they are jumpers, apparently they can, but i've had no trouble with that so far. better to keep weights on top thou

thanks yes they certainly are built for speed and look like jumpers

mines jumped out once. i make sure its covered well now. i wanted to use the front and back of my 29 g for the windows in the front with a 1x4 brace inbetween them to hold them so i dont have to by a front window. Is that a bad idea? would it make it stronger?

Yeah same question, ive got a 75g tank and im looking to house a alligator gar. Anybody know if that's reasonable for a gar?
