The question has been answered. $2K for a Malaysian Gold is on the lowest scale! It's not a waste of money, if that's what you can only afford, and you like the aro for what it is at the time of purchase. However, if you think, at the time of purchase, that the aro will turn out to be like one of the $20K show piece, then you are wasting your time and money to chase false hope! Of course, you can always stay with RTG, but a nice HBRTG is still a RTG. It won't be a Malaysian Gold. That's why there's people who buy a low end C-class Mercedes, instead of a top, fully-loaded Honda Accord ;)

agree, when buying fish we've to be realistic, if somehow your 2k fish turn into a 20K beauty it is a pure fluke shot:WHOA:

its just depresing when you pay the $2k and when you post pics people still think its a HBRTG

I agree with this view.
We spend our hard-earned money to buy this fish shipped from miles away. Fish pics emailed to us before payment could easily be so tweaked. We make our decision based on great looking fish fish in the snap and have every right to feel depressed when the arrived fish don't turn out as per our expectations.

There are people who can't tell the different. As long as the owner like the fish, that's what matter! :)

You got the wrong view! :D That was not the case here. He depressed, because the fish he bought doesn't grow out as what he expect 2-3 years down the road

:WTF:

as some of the other posts in this thread shows its not just me who has had enough of this total rip off $2k aro thing

the farms sell us aros that are labelled as xback but they turn out no better than HBRTG

1 in 100 $2k xback MAY turn out nice the rest look like HBRTG

I think its about time the farms done something about the standard of xback they are selling

most people spend the $2k on a xback thinking it will turn out sweet when if the truth be known it wont

after 2-3 years when the xback should be starting to look great and show signs of crossing their is not much the buyer can do if its not as nice as they thought it would be

this could be another scam the farms are doing because if every xback they sell turned out sweet people wouldn't sell them and buy another aro

HBRTG looking xback means the owner will sell and buy another aro hoping that would turn out nice which is what i have been doing for the past 15 years

I think the Japan/China market pays though the teeth for top grade aros and that's where all the top grade aros are going. I think the european/canadian markets get the leftovers, and because we're willing to pay for them, it will continue until hobbyists stop buying them. At this point, it's a sellers market.

i agree we get the junk other Asian counrys just wont except

even when we/or buyers go over to look at aros for sale we are not even shown the good stuff

their was a post in this thread that said super grade reds are of lower grade than blood red or chili red well i have a chili red and i wouldn't say thats great

i have been told (not sure if its true) that any aro that has a A at the end of the tag number is export junk
