The patterns on his body have not "faded" so to speak, as I see in most males his size. He is quite a looker, and the growth since last year is quite remarkable! Obviously you have done a really good job with him.
 
Have you gotten any fry off of this guy yet? In the second pic, it almost looks like a little fry swimming upwards , but maybe that is just a drip on the glass of the tank?

Ramshorn snails. Tons of them in this tank. Eat anything that sits still long enough except rock and substrate.
