But to be honest this thread is not about pics, it's about wild silver aggression, I want to know if anyone else has had wild silvers, and if they were mean.

I have only had one silver aro, don't know if it was wild or not. It was not aggresive one bit, In fact it was killed by cichlids much smaller than the aro itself.

:)

toxicfish - damn man, that sucks - how big was the aro compared to the cichlids?

Something I've noticed with predators in the last year or so, is you seem to get alpha fish. Fish that look really good are just a strong specimen, and are often aggressive.

Even down to a common old oscar, the better looking ones I've seen are usually more aggressive.

This silver is 15 inches and very nice looking. Shiny, pink and blue fins, no sign of drop eye, but it's damn aggressive.

Like I said it beat the **** out of my loisellei, which I don't care about, but now it's bashing up my cobra snakehead :( All the snakehead's fins have big chunks out of them.

Oddballer - that doesn't really make sense with the tigs. That's like saying, Asian aros are farm bred, they should be as cheap as a TSN etc.

It's about demand right? A tig is a rarer more exclusive fish than a TSN, so breeders know they can charge more, what people are prepared to pay.

The Cuban gars that come out of Asia are captive bred, yet they cost more like a tig.

Ask Oddball what he knows about it, I don't know about the US, but from what I gather, most of the tigs in the UK these days are hormone bred.

BJ Penn will own Matt Hughes........

RNC in second round.........

  you're crazy. I'm pumped to watch it though.

Despite the arguing though, this thread has been an interesting read.

perhaps I'm wrong...... and that was a bad example....... But as far as i know I have yet to be offer CB Tigs..... I'm sure its possible since many other large SA cats are CB in asia....... but i have yet to here of tigs....... what size are these tigs that are available? perhaps they are "grow outs" like Arows ? if they are offering 3" then maybe yea they are CB......

As far as price is concerned it really depends upon the breeders........ sometimes they think they have a gold mine when they really have a good silver mine....... therefore never being able to sell as many as the market can bare....... look what happened to the Aus Lungfish.......

What did happen to the AUL exactly oddballer? I don't know much about that fish, they simply asked too much for them?

I was obviously mistaken about the silver aros, as probably are the people that told me. They are obviously grown out not bred - however - with the tigs I've specifically heard they are hormone bred, not grown out.

The ones I've seen that were captive bred were between 5 and 9 inches. CDM got his as a juvenile captive bred, the amazing one with the swirly stripes :)

hmm strange....... i'm not saying i have access to all fish but i never heard of CB tigs....... anyhow if so they will turn up someday.......

As for the Aus Lungfish...... that was just it....... they asked too much for them....... trying to keep the market up while at the same time producing large quantities....... the fish just didnt move........ that is a common mistake made by many suppliers........ by trying to make a extra dollar or two they don't make a bunch of .50 cents.....
