Anyone notice that customers seem to think thermometers are heaters?
"Your tank is heated right?"
"Yea i've got one of those little colored things that sticks to the glass."

Then most of the time they are baffled that i would suggest they pay $15 for a heater for the fish they insist on having. Seriously, since when do thermometers heat anything? What are these people thinking? This isn't even being dumb with fish, just period.

yeah people think just cause the temometer says 70 it's ok
well what about temp swings?

ive never worked in a fish store but I used to work at Napa Autoparts. Alot of fish people may be dumb but atleast they are generally in a good mood (they are there to buy a pet). At an autoparts store everyone comes in pissed cause 99% they are there because their car is broken and they have been trying to fix the piece of **** all day. Then they get even more pissed when I dont instantly know what part out of the 50000 we stock and the million+ we can order they need to fix their car. It was so stressful and I was only 15 at the time so I quite and started working at a metal shop so I dont have to deal with any people.

Although I have heard a few funny stories while browsing at my LFS.

This one girl was asking why her 3 large Koi fish seemed like they were dying and why the tank smelled so bad. The guy asked if the tank was cycled and she said "Yea about a year ago I had some gold fish in it but they died, so yesterday I put my Koi in there for the winter (from a pond)" The guy unphased said what size tank? She pointed at a 20 long tank holding feeder guppies and said "like this I think." The guy at the LFS was busy trying to fish out all the dead rosie reds from the feeder tank at the time and didnt seem to interested in trying to explain to the girl that she was a complete moron. So I boldly (I might apply for a job there soon so i though it might make me look good ha ha) said "Your tanks not cycled because it didnt have any fish in it so the bacteria didnt have any nutrients to survive." Then without pause the girl replied "No the tanks has plenty of fish poop in it! It was really dirty when the fishes died and I left all the water in it." I then decided to let the guy getting paid to solve this impossible problem ha ha

You haven't worked at a fish store! Half the time they are there to complain about their fish that died, although it was the store's fault. "My water is fine, it's crystal clear!"

So is a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide, but fish don't live in that do they?

god! someone here try answering fish questions in yahoo answers! it is depressing! "my goldfish is pregant?" (dropsy) , "haw many oscar fish can I put in a 10 gallon?" "I kept 5 goldfish in a bowl, they did fine" ARRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!! AND THATS ON A GOOD DAY!!!!!!

I was in pet smart one day and this gy infront of me bought 2 Black Moores, a 1/2 gallon bowl and some tropical fish food all at once.OMG, I wanted to do something. But I was young.

Another time, this kid and his mom buys a ID shark and like some red fish and the employee squirts conditioner in the bag.

Little Boy: Why do you do that.
Employee: So they live longer
Mother: See son, she's knows her fish.

A few days ago, I was in pet smart(Not sure why I'm their, I never buy anything?) The guy behind me bought 1 tetra. I wanted to punch him in the face and yell" DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FISH!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!" Like totaly flip out on him.

Oh I hate lazy people who think they can do whatever they want.

I've bought one neon tetra before. I had a school of 10, but like fish better in odd number schools, so I bought the one I needed to "round out" the school.

Haha, You should tell him the price of the alternator is the same price as his car.
