Will this work? Overstocking police are welcome

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
and 1 more thing, please take a look at my 55 G album... will the decor work?

I also added a small piece of wood, and a small log and a small root to the tank

These may or may not become food once the EBJD's are larger, but for nice coloration (and if the EBJD's are kept fed and don't feel the need to eat em) some rummynose tetra or white cloud minnows would look good. The red against the blue would look awesome. And I would throw in 4-5 Yoyo Loaches, they won't be bullied by the EBJD's and they're really a cool active fish.

Anyways, that's what I would do if I had room for another 55 Gallon :D

Decorate to your tastes, the fish will make do.

Good to know. I have ALOT of decor in there, but I like it... Its mostly for the smaller fish though

no... because the oscar will get bigger then the tanks width, therefore having a problem turning around, aggression wise it would be fine, EBJD arent that wimpy once they hit 5"+

Wow, you've got a ton of threads on this subject. I say NO....because you can't keep your mind made up from lunchtime till dinnertime as to which fish you want to keep and where  I'm not trying to be mean or picky, but you've just got to decide on something and leave it be. That 55 g isn't big enough for an Oscar UNLESS you're willing to consistanly (until you're 25 yrs old) do bi-weekly water changes. We all have to have the maturity not to get animals we can't/won't/aren't willing to-take care of. Even at 14 or 15 yrs of age you're capable of that. Don't get them if you don't-at that moment-have a place for them.

I plan on adding........
This is the problem. Don't 'plan' on things. Get what you need BEFORE you get the fish.

I totally agree with Twisted. You're worrying about water quality, which is extremely important. But you're not addressing the aggressiveness of the fish that you have. Even the most perfect water quality will not protect your Oscar should your EBJDs decide to have a go at him. And, with such a small amount of space, his ability to evade them would be limited. You'll find fishkeeping much more enjoyable if you research and stock your tank with fishes who can live in your tank, rather than always being stressed because your fishes are stressed. Why worry about constantly upgrading, doing massive, frequent water changes, and whether torn and nipped fins will grow back when you can stock your tank appropriately and really enjoy it?
