so I have been thinking and I dont really think I will enjoy keeping the Knifes and butterflys IDk why they just dont stand out to me that being said I dont think a fish tank is a fish tank without a cichlid lol so I have been thinking and what about a pair of Hemichromis elongatus? not Sp frempongi or fasciatus I know they get bigger and meaner so what about a pair of elongatus? stays like 7-8" so the stocking would be
2 x del
1 x ctenopoma
12 x congo tetra
2 x Hemichromis elongatus?

If your getting jewels I would stick with bimaculatus/lifalli. I haven’t had one but I’ve read that anything “5 star general jewel” (I think that includes fasciatus, elongatus, and frempongi) can go full dovii when breeding.

I have a Frempongi and he’s solo in a 55 and he uses every square inch of it, I think he would beat up a ctenopoma and possibly the dels. I’ve kept African brown knives and I think you would find them enjoyable

J Joshuakahan ya if I got a hemichromis their would be now knife fish or butterfly fish with it
You could try the Hemichromis, I’m not overly experienced with them, just from what I’ve read and watching how mine attacks the glass, they some of the most aggressive fish out there. Did you find a place to get a Frempongi or elongatus?

I would just get one, they can be bad alone, but like all cichlids all hell breaks loose when there is fry involved. Have a backup plan ready in case it goes south.
