well e lifespan for lungfishes r abt 20 yrs or more... bichirs r another of fishes tat can live quite long... for ur info, e austrialian or queensland lung can lived up to 80 yrs old...
quite slow growth that, but i suppose that there will be some individuals that never reach the 'average' size ... I have a lungfish that is less than 2 years and is already 30" ...
I remembered why I havent seen a lung fish here... their illigal in wisconsin! people keep asking me to get them for them and I'm like NO! People release them into lakes around here... and they have no natural preditors... can't they live outside of water?
They may live outside, in Wisconsin, for a couple of months in the summer but, they'll die when the thermometer drops. LFs have the ability to aestivate or go into suspended animation. However, this hibernation state is not the total shutdown of body processes. LFs maintain an internal moisture level of 1% and their heart continues to beat a few times a day while they're coccooned. Freeze them completely and they're goners.
sorry LIL Lara, i thought tracer would have answered. they had a bunch of snails in there i guess those kept the algee down. he's now inside where he belongs
