reachin 33" as max size? :omg:

guyz,
what's your current tank size for this specimen?

i've read that the minimum tank size will be 150gals.

i'm planning to keep one at 75gals.

quite slow growth that, but i suppose that there will be some individuals that never reach the 'average' size ... I have a lungfish that is less than 2 years and is already 30" ...

I actually keep mine in a community tank ...

cool name by the way

carl

Is he always near open sunlight like that? doesnt that produce alot of algae?

But hes really really cool

I remembered why I havent seen a lung fish here... their illigal in wisconsin! people keep asking me to get them for them and I'm like NO! People release them into lakes around here... and they have no natural preditors... can't they live outside of water?

They may live outside, in Wisconsin, for a couple of months in the summer but, they'll die when the thermometer drops. LFs have the ability to aestivate or go into suspended animation. However, this hibernation state is not the total shutdown of body processes. LFs maintain an internal moisture level of 1% and their heart continues to beat a few times a day while they're coccooned. Freeze them completely and they're goners.
