Unlike you I was told to get mine pulled, but I didn't listen to my dentist when I was 16. One of them was coming in crooked. I didn't have to have them all pulled, but I was told that it was better to do all or nothing.
I waited 10 years until one started rotting away, and had them pulled. I was in intense pain when I made the decision.
Intense, and agonizing. Three of them popped out easily, but the rotting one was the crooked one. It didn't come out easily and I had bruising and intense pain (even with vicodin being used). My saving grace was no dry socket. Apparently after 20 years of removing wisdom teeth the one tooth ranked in the worst 5% of cases being pulled out by my surgeon.
Take the advice of those here on reducing the pain, and good luck. Oh, get them all yanked at once if you can. Don't mess around because you'll never want to have it done again.
