Oh well I'll try the other store next for live rock.

I went to the same LFS this morning they checked my water and it was perfect. They have a no refund or exchange policy so I'm pissed about that. They gave me a sick fish and it died and it wasn't my fault so that the last time I buy anything live from them. Oh well I'm on the lookout for deals online. The tank looks so empty without any fish lol.
 
try looking in the phone book... i don't know how big a city merced is, but im in the suburbs and i still found like 5 SW stores around me that way. on a weekend or a day off just drive anround and check out their stock... take a few pictures.. ask some questions, and try and find some more ones you like.

there was a store that i thought was amazing till i saw some other ones.. THEY ARE GODLY!!!!

getting a variety of views and opinions on matters can't hurt either...
 
i totaly agree. Theres only one LFS in my area that i trust and even then his livestock isnt all that great, nor does he have a huge variety of fish or corals.

Its funny that you say take some pics Big G!! i tried that at a store in chicago once and they yelled at me and said if i got caught again i would get kicked out lol. They didnt seem to like it all that much. I think it was like old town aquarium or something to that effect out in chicago.
 
I have checked the phone book problem is there are only two that sell SW organisms. Merced is fairly small 80,000 people extremely small compared to where I used to live in LA. Since I frequent LA I might find a store down there to buy live fish from or maybe one in Fresno. There are probably a number of reputable ones in Fresno. I'll check there next Aquarius Aquarium volunteer meeting.

LA and fresno sounds like a good place to look.

the town i currently live in is lik 25,000 but the places that have the stores are like 50-80,000. then there's chicago :D
 
Wow a place thats actually smaller than here lol. I think I might try a petco for my next fish because of the return policy they have, unlike the no return they have here. So my tank is still fishless. Plus the live rock is finally becoming really live lol. I even have a mollusk of some sort. I can't tell what kind or if its even alive because its in a hole and all I can see is the front of an open shell lol. Things have been looking pretty good in it.

funny... you've never been to montana or wyoming or iowa... there's town of 3,500 all the way down to... 500!!!
 
there are lots of fish that would do well in a nano tank, but if you really wanted a pair of clowns you could probably keep a pair of tru percs or ocellaris in a ten if you kept the tank pretty sparse. I also wouldn't add any other fish cause once the clowns mature and pair up they are gonna harass the other fish probably to death. I don't know if I would recommend it but it is possible
