Well first After being in the hobby MANY years I KNOW MY MARINE suppliers, Never HAD an issue, Second Got back into the fresh side of the hobby jus tlast year , Looking to try something DIFFERENT. Third I am NOT badmouthing anyone. Fourth i appreciate the helpful comments from the yoyo loaches. Fifth I DO NOT not appreciate the bashing me or the accusations FROM Hobbyists who PROBALLY Have alot less experience than I do. Sixth When I pay for something I expect to get high quality problem free animals or plants. The retailer should dip all plants prior to shipping out, Thats the way I treat ALL my Customers goods and guarentee problem free merchandise if the problem arises I FIX it NOT bash the customer! So I think I will Now move on to more important issues. you have a NICE day!

Most snails are not an issue they are good clean up crew (being in to saltwater you should know that term). I have 15years of saltwater experience, propagating corals and breeding clown fish and Talbot's damsels are some of the things I've done. Never in my 15 years did I not find bristleworms, brittle stars the white stars (forget their name) apistasia, and tons of copapods. Even from the most reputable sources. I learned to qt, dip and qt some more to not bring these things into my tanks. For the most part most of those are good cuc. While bristle worms are not super attractive (they do have very pretty iridescence) they work hard to help keep the tank clean. It's all in how you look at it. I agree with whoever said it's kinda on you to properly prepare your plants or deal with the outcome. I don't care for Dustin's plants but I'd also not put this on them. I'm not sure why some seem so combative including you. It's not that big a deal. You could have brought in flatworms again not that much of an issue unless you have shrimp. Try to ensure there is no food missed by your fish and the population of snails should decrease or at least not explode. Most of the time especially with mts lights go on and they disappear back into the substrate. I put ramshorn snails in most of my tanks because they are an easy cuc member to have and breed. Plus my fahaka loves them.

those online sellers should NEVER be selling any invasive snail species as hitchikers and do their best to prevent it from crossing state lines. Its absolutely banned in several areas. I understand the frustration as it could be leading some of the hobbyists to have their tanks destroyed if the DNR wants to do house calls here in the US if anything dumb happened to get their attention on you.

Its absolutely banned in several areas. < snip > here in the US...

Do you have a source for that statement? I'm not contradicting you but I've never heard of trumpet snails as being on a banned invasive species list. I agree that they're gross and I don't like them in my tanks but invasive species... that's a whole different category.

Its banned in wisconsin to start with 🤣 Wisconsin has banned so many snails and crays thats how i knew off the bat even if Im in Illinois- An fish/reptile rescue in wisconsin focused on conservation and keeping captive animals out of the wild by taking them in did a FYI years ago thats how I found out know rightaway its banned. All i did was do google and screenshot it i know for sure Thats why some shops stopped giving away free snails for puffer food 26E858B1-F43B-40BD-9BEC-BC290D2C43C3.png

Just so you know if you actually look into the information you provided or do a more thorough search there have been 0 mts found in the wild in these states. It is on the prohibited list of animals though. So you are not totally wrong. This is one of the someone thought they should jump on the band wagon and ban it animals. The fact is in the northern states the water temp gets to low in the winter and the animals die never actually establishing. It's funny it's only banned in a few of the states where actual populations have been found in the wild. Don't get me wrong it is definitely up to us to keep our hobby out of the local wild. It's the snakehead debate basically. There is one species of snakehead that could live through winter here in the north but they are all banned. This isn't the first time this mts debate has come up. And it won't be the last. If you are going to site something I'd read into it a little more is all I'm saying.

You will always run the risk of introducing snails when you have a planted tank. Tissue culture plants are probably the only snail free available. That said, TC plants are difficult to get established or to transition to submerged.
Trumpet snails are difficult to eradicate. Pea puffer don’t seem to be able to attack them. Loaches might work. I have assassin snails but you are almost replacing one pest with another and I still have trumpets in the tanks wheee I added assassins.
Trumpets and ramshorn snails are live bearing. Bladder snails lay eggs. Only one trumpet or ramshorn is needed to start production. Only one satchet of eggs to introduce bladder. Cut back on how much you are feeding and this will help reduce the numbers.
Reef tanks have brittle stars and bristle worms and little white starfish and ….
Welcome to the fabulous world of “I’m not in control of what happens.”:grinyes:
I had all of that in my reef tanks, I usually like hitchhikers…except for aptasia lol

Why do you hate the snails so much? I’ve been doing fresh and salt since the 80s and I usually like hitchhikers, especially with salt
