They Have for over a year Made my tank a mess with PROLIFERATION and I KEEP all my tanks Pristine. They are everywhere NEXT tIMe I will Be alot More careful from who I buy from. My Bad I trusted this vendor to send Snail free Plants LIKE I trust My Saltwater People MY Mistake. I guess Other people DO Not MInd Getting PESky Snails in their setups, Thanks.
I would just get a fish or two that keep their numbers in check and then they’re not so bad, even beneficial. You will never be able to rid of them without starting over, sometimes even starting over doesn’t work

I don’t like MTS either but they are a useful cleanup crew. I’ve dealt with 2 types of MTS…some that get quite large and I don’t know anything that can with those. Maybe a large clown loach can suck those out?

I also commonly deal with tiny MTS that breed like crazy. I dropped a congo puffer in that and tank the problem was gone overnight. They can eat the little mts. Loaches occasionally work and assassin snails literally can’t keep up.

Also, I’ve had several reef tanks and I’m amazed you never had hitchhikers on your corals and live rock.
Good luck

Just so you know if you actually look into the information you provided or do a more thorough search there have been 0 mts found in the wild in these states. It is on the prohibited list of animals though. So you are not totally wrong. This is one of the someone thought they should jump on the band wagon and ban it animals. The fact is in the northern states the water temp gets to low in the winter and the animals die never actually establishing. It's funny it's only banned in a few of the states where actual populations have been found in the wild. Don't get me wrong it is definitely up to us to keep our hobby out of the local wild. It's the snakehead debate basically. There is one species of snakehead that could live through winter here in the north but they are all banned. This isn't the first time this mts debate has come up. And it won't be the last. If you are going to site something I'd read into it a little more is all I'm saying.

umm I am so positive they ARE declared invasives according to FWS.. federal level government our beloved US Fish and Wildlife article was published on their site back in 2018 i think. Again Im a lazy person but not overly concerned about us smalltime hobbyists getting in trouble over MTS in our tanks- we got more dangerous species to worry about like the zebra mussels or the emerald ash borer 🪲 destroying the ash trees in my area etc

where did I say they were in the Wisconsin watersheds? LOLOLOL about it i said they are invasive species and is banned in several areas and is and another person asked me where they were banned when i said in several areas in the US- instead of googling themselves they asked me to cite it so I simply screenshot it as an example for goodness out of my heart sake LOL 😂 AN EXAMPLE! 🫡

again let me rephrase it

MTS is deemed an invasive species and is banned/prohibited and FWS and several sites are labeling them an invasive species. If you are caught transporting them across the state lines without permits have fun pleading ingorance- especially when you have poked the wrong conservation officer the wrong way. Thats all I was saying when shipping living beings across state lines. Its still YOUR butt on the line- they even have wood transportation rules /regulations in some industry between state lines and out of country to declare it free of certain buggies same concept really

anyhow on the snakehead debate I loved that discussion i kind of like them being here but that would be frowned upon by some of the conservation purists
NANFA on FB has been having fun discussions on other nonnative fish in many states its a problematic though its not a fearmongering kneejerk reaction- all i can catch is rusty crayfish now- i cannot feed my fish baby crays as all rusties Are so illegal to possess alive- zebra mussel shells shred my feet in places where I used to walk barefoot on lake huron /lake Michigan when I was a child all I can catch is round gobies in certain former fishing spots here in IL and in Michigan its not a knee jerk reaction “just a snakehead” reaction tho to be honest its a thread for another day when Im not sooo lazy to create a new thread so this OP doesnt feel hijacked

cheers

I don't see an emergency associated w/ Trumpet Snails on our in situ records.

I do recall pulling a sailboat across country not long ago and having to stop for roadside inspections as the local authorities wanted to know if I might have a couple klingons on the hull. Not sure what variant though.
