Nice GT! Just from that picture alone I can tell it's bigger than the average GTs.

Biggest one I have ever seen in person was easily over 12" with very body similar to that but it had a curved back:(.

Imagine how big they get in the wild.

Actually, it is not at all uncommon for fish to grow much larger in an aquarium than the wild given the correct conditions. A fish grows its entire life albeit much slower once they mature. In a tank a fish typically live a much longer life than in the wild. There is always abundant food. Their is little competition or chance of being killed by a larger predator. Life is simply much easier and less stressful giving the fish a chance to exceed that of his wild counterpart.

Oh, by the way... gorgeous fish!! :headbang2

My friend had an 19 inch one that lived for 20 years. This is the first time since i have seen a big brute, congrats!!

I think BS on this one. If it was 19" it be in the record books.

He was longer than a 5 gallon bucket is wide (12") so I called him 13"

Nice Gold Saum.

Gravedigger! This thread is real old, hehe.

Unfortunately the big GT died only 2 weeks after i got him home. Never recovered from whatever disease he was carrying. I did measure him at 35½Cm when he died, so not as big as i originally thought, it might have been the thickness and how tall he was that threw me off.

Google says 35½ cm = 13,976" so a good 14" is still a huge gold saum, and haven't seen one as big ever since

Nice colour though, I saw a deformed one in my LFS that had no top jaw, looked like a muppet.
