Above all, do not take it out of the water for measurements ( remember Greenterra's Jaguar!!! ).

This is not a competition and all you said was your guesstimate.

Preseve that beast. Who cares if it is the biggest.
X2. If there ever comes an opportune time to place a tape measure next to the GT, feel free to do it. It's really not worth stressing a clearly healthy fish just to satisfy the arguments of a "guesstimate".

I am not much of a cichlid fan.. but these GT's make me wish I was. Gorgeous fish. doesn't matter how big it is.. thats a very nice fish.

Too bad you don't have yours anymore Modest_Man. I've been looking all over town for good sized feeders for this guy.

Just discovered Ich on him. The tonic and salt treatment will now run for 4 days instead of 2, so better pics won't come untill then :(

Ps. jag in the front left corner is 11" measured, Midas is 9" measured, and the smaller saum which i have pictured in other threads is eyeballed 8"

Agree 100% it's big that's obvious you do don't have to prove anything. He is a beautiful fish and I wish you years of enjoyment with him.

This one shows his color a bit better untill i can get some good shots of him.

he's pretty scared of me, so he's always in the back of the tank whenever i come close or take the camera out :(

Thanks a bunch for all the kind comments, he's definatly a dream fish of mine come true, and i am very happy!

I may have to surgically remove a swelling on his lower lip, if it turns out to be a tumor and won't be cured with meds, and in that case i'll measure him when he's out of the water anyway.

Awesome fish. Just curious, why is your water so green? Direct sunlight? Kinda looks like an outdoor pond. I know they sell a UV light you can put inline from the output of your filter to clear that up(permanently). It's usually used for pond fliters.

Thanks. In the start of the thread i explained that the water is green due to medication :)
