Man I love reading Wes's posts in controversial threads like this!! Always looking at the situation from both sides, multiple angles, and without any harsh negativity!

Since your points/posts reflect exactly how I feel, I don't feel the need to add to what's already been said! :)

Opinions and comments are a free speech pillar regarding the success of these forums. I am not in agreement or disagreement with your opinion regarding the microcosms of China's actions. However, passive remarks to the statements made by other individuals to their sense of comprehendible intelligence is a little distorted from the reflection you perceive in this post.

well said, and I respect that. But reflecting on your statement, detracts from the merits of your preceeding paragraph. Free speech is certainly a pillar of not only the web boards, but also this country, however, not when its at the expense of other humans' well being.

you're sure they have other options? and you've lived in china i'm assuming? and they have the option to pick which specimen they catch...like netting out a goldfish?
i'm not attacking you at all, nothing personal, just want to broaden the way we think

no, i havent lived in china. although living in asia, and being a shark enthusiast, i do have some background knowledge on the subject. it may not apply in this specific single case, but it does happen too much of the time and yes, they do have other options, even if partially. [bad sentence, sorry] if only we educate ourselves on the topic, we could save the whale shark, and i'm sure many other species in danger.

I respect what you say as well. I think in this country, and many other Western countries we have the luxury of being able to sit there with a full stomach, roof over our heads and study the ecology of sharks and fish. But there are many countries where people don't have their basic needs met. Like those kids in India or Africa that live on streets, have to use drugs to supress the pain from hunger.

You cannot begin to educate these people, because its not relevant to their immediate needs.
