Worst heater

It seems like over time submersible glass heaters all get moisture inside of them.

I think it's worth it to get a seperate controller. If it has a cool cycle you can hook up a fan blowing across the top of the tank, it's a LOT cheaper and simpler than a chiller and works as long as you don't have too much heat dumping into the tank (MH lighting).

all-glass heater as bad, the temp is never right. set mine at 79 tank was at like 85 or higher

I had a theo heater, 400 watt I beleive. Came home from work one day and I was thinking" man its kinda warm over here." Got closer to the tank and touched it. DAM was warm! Check the temp it was reading 90. It boiled my oranda goldfish. Everyone else seemed ok. Got a Visatherm 200watter and not a problem yet. Fish never got sick or any other deaths besides the one.

Oh ya, it just stayed on.

How about the Rena ones that integrate into the piggyback filter or in the canister. Anybody like em?

I just got one for my 125 since I needed to steal one for my 55. Got it at Petsmart for $33 (300W, with price match) and use it on the inlet for my XP3. I like that the temp dial is easy to read/change and it's plastic (at least on the outside)

i have a 150W ebo jager on my chichlid tank and for 2 years it would run while in the air during a wc, then i burnt myself on it once during the wc and now i always unplug it cause its unsafe in so many ways, but it still seems in great condition

i use the theo heaters in all my tanks i like them but they do run hot by a couple of degrees but i haven't had them that long either
