What was the worst tank accident you've ever had???
Be it a bursting, Heater Malfunction, or pH crash, feel free to list it here.

Mine happened last March...
We were doing our regular monthly 100% wc :screwy: And I left the heater plugged in and put it on my mother's boot. Both were ruined. So we went to the store and bought a new one. What we didn't know was that it came turned up REALLY HIGH. The overnight bloom, along with around 100 ml of water conditioner, resulted in something that was a bit like 90 degree milk
. I lost the first of my 3 scissortails, a new impulse buy my mom bought, and a zebra danio the next night while he was in the emergency tank. It also triggered a genetic malfunction, making my obese Zebra danio.:WHOA::naughty::nilly::cry::confused:

Wow its ok to do 100% wc? How big is your tank? My tank needs one but I don't know if its good...

Mine was with the first tank i had, it was only a 50 lt thankfully.

I was cycling the tank , waiting to stock it with Mbuna, came home early from work one day, just lit up a smoke when i heard what sounded like a waterfall and instantly thought OH $*%#, burst in to my aninmal room/games room and was just like a deer in headlights lol, watching water go everywhere.

It took me about 3 hours to clean the room up. i had to chuck the rug outside, rip the carpet up put a load of towls down etc. Just thankfull it was only a 50 lt, it split right across the bottom.

Iv got a 300 gallon with a 30 gallon sump. I left out of town and the power went out. Half of the water back fed into the sump and flooded my living room. Needless to say the 6 month old carpet was ripped out and had to lay hardwood. Its no fun moving a 300 gallon tank.

my brother went outta town and left his collection of 5 betta fish with our mom and she never turned there lights off and when he came back after 5 days all the tanks were full of algae and dead bettas.

my dad did a water change on my moms goldfish tank and used clorox on a rag to wipe out the tank then filled it back with water and dropped the fish in and all 3 died.

i had my filter crack on my 55 and drained half the water out on to the floor and ruin the carpet.

If it aint broke dont fix it. bought a used 135 leaked out one side so i fixed it. Then i decided why not reseal the whole tank even tho the silicon was clearly fine. well one day i get a phone call. "THE FISH TANK EXPLODED". the tank is on the second floor. you can imagine how that went.

Heater malfunction killed four angels, a baby fire eel and a net full of rummynose. I panicked and just tore the heater out, a few seconds later it exploded.

In our fridge, good bacteria on carbon packet died, replaced with bad bacteria - which when placed in the tank killed off all the bacteria causing a HUGE ammonia spike, to the point where all my fish were BLEEDING. My BGK's tail was even bleeding.... :(

casualties though...

:WHOA:

I had a red tail cat in a 55 gal he was about 15 inchs and while at work he pushed a rock into the glass so i came home to a soagy room and a pissed off mom (i was 17 at that time) now i know no more moms near my tank.:grinno: just kidin no more red tails unless i have a indoor pond:naughty:
