Worst tank accident?

Not the worst thing to happen. In 46+ years in the hobby, there have certainly been other events. In this incident, all I heard from the nearly-filled 285 gal was 'tic, ...tic' before it blew out. I was standing by the corner when the tsunami hit me.

Peacock eel jumped out while i was on vacation and deteriated into my carpet... i couldnt sleep in my room for 3 weeks!

this happened when i was about 12..

i asked my mother to get dechlorinator/stress coat from the pet store and put 2 cap fulls in my tank.. (20 gallon)

when i came home from school. all my fish were dead...


she thought i said chlorinator..
thinking chlorine .. she put in 2 cups of clorox bleach..

4 years ago had a 13 in pleco decide he wanted to go through the side of my tank while i was at work i lost my 2 oscars but the dang pleco lived

My dad was a fish fanatic so I grew up with fish in the home. When I was about 4, no one had the foresight to keep the rocking chair away from our 20 gallon. I rocked back really far and.... fell right back through the tank. All the fish died. Everything was soaked. I had glass in my ears, nose, hair... everywhere. Didn't change a thing though. My dad passed his love of fish down to me and we both still have tanks.

I placed a 30gal next to the window during a very hot summer. Came home one day and stepped into a pool of water. Entire tank emptied onto a hard wood floor. I think the sun may have messed with the silicone and popped a seem. All the fish survived. All twelve of them. Caribe are tuff little bastards swimming around in about half an inch of water.

My cousin had a twenty long until his 5 year old daughter hit it with a hammer. She's got a 5 year old of her own now, but Thom still won't set up another tank.

All I can think of is what in the world a 5 year old kid is doing with a fricken' hammer!?

Holy &*@#! Was there a specific cause for this or was the tank just poorly constructed?...

Stupid canister filter started leaking and soaked my carpet bad so now i sit my canisters in plastic totes in case i spring another leak
