i know of a pond in an area my friend lives with huge koi that are invading i was wondering if they were caught could they b sold and fo how much the bigger ones are well over 24 inches and there are some butterflies mixed in. is there a market for big wild koi?

Is this a natural or man-made pond? Are you sure they're koi, or just carp? They're really is no such thing as "wild" koi. Price would depend on color/pattern. Pics would be best.

its a public pond for sure they were put in forever ago when i worked for the state hatchery stocking trout the guy who lives near there told us that they were just dropped in and took off, most ar orange there are a few solid whites and a couple black and of coarse the orange white mixture

and they are definatly koi its a natural pond and no one can seem to get them out by fishin, because they dont like most live baits.

Owning Koi myself, I will tell you that if you do take these koi, anyone serious about their pond/fish wouldn't buy them.

KHV runs high now a days, and will wipe out your stock.

Also, from living in a natural-esque pond, they would more than likely be ridden with parasites and bacteria- and once put in a home pond would more than likely stress out from such different water parameters, and treatments needed.

Koi are more sensitive to sudden changes than people think, and you would spend more time dealing with dead koi than making $$.

And more than likely the "black" koi are typical carp. Black koi are hard to come buy unless the original buyer bought them from someone who imported koi from Israel- and they have actually been noted to carry KHV more than any other origin of Koi.

Taking any fish from its natural water source unless in season and legal size is illegal

Koi don't have a season, since they are not a native species.. so he can take them.

They were illegally put in it if it's a local pond...
