Dr_Shakalu;4769971; said:I have been told that wild fish tend not to have much color in the wild and I was on wikipedia and they said that koi would turn back into their wild color which is grey or black.
I have found that their colors are better in the wild as they get more nutrients from natural sources...
I know someone who has an old lake they dumped koi into, and they are amazing in color... you can see them a mile from the road they are on because they are so bright.
Wikipedia is def not the best place for info.
Genetics plays a big part of koi. Their color is either going to flourish or fade.
Many people place Koi in mud ponds for years.. this is to encourage growth and color enhancement.. they do not revert back to their "natural" colors.
