would this work??

How do you measure happiness in a fish, you don't. Fish don't feel happiness as we humans do. They are purely instinct based animals, even the personality we say they have only exsist cause we choose to believe so. If the fish learns to do something and reacts to its owner this is not personality but instinct. In the wild fish may learn to suck bait off of hook and never get caught it is the same thing as begging for food. They do it cause it gets them fed.
I would not recommend this to anyone but if asked I will say how it is possible if it is possible. If they said 3 Oscars in a 10, I would of said its impossible. But three in a 60 is possible and they can live long healthy lives and if done right.

Once again, I would never do this but that doesn't mean that it is not possible.

"you cannot have 3 giant fighting fish in a small tank."
I would hardly call oscar giants, esp when people keep p-bass in large numbers in a tank that measures 6x2x2. There is no difference between the two except for the people who support the overstocked P-bass/aro tanks, the rest follow like sheep.

well sure its possible. oscars do get big and if you want me to rephrase it you cannot have 3 big fish fighting in a small tank. anyways nova you keep on bringing up this Aro/P-bass tank. there is a difference because with the Aro/P-bass that size and a tank that size, it is similer to keeping african cichlids. there is a lot of fish in a tank but they all have room to swim and establish territories. as with the oscars, there is a few fish in a tank that is too small to establish territories and hardly room to swim. there is also most likely a difference in owners. the guy who buys a 9ft by 3ft tank is the same guy that is devoted to the hobby and knows what he's doing. the guy who buys a 60g and a few oscars is probably just starting to keep fish and doesnt know whats what. but i guess to sum it all up, it is possible to keep them in a tank that small but they will by no means be happy or good looking.

Just about anything is possible but would you want to share a 8x8 room with two other people? Your natural "instinct" would be to fight. 2-3 people share a 8x8 jail cell...thats why its called jail! You say fish don't have feelings, and maybe you are right but do you think they would be happy sharing a extremely small space? Possible yes but why give someone advise to do so that hasn't kept Oscars before? You are meerly giving advise that it is alright and setting them up for disaster. So if 3 Oscars can go in 60 gallons can you put one in a 20G? Thats the same as 3 in a 60g right? I am not sure why you say its wrong and yet you back up your reasoning with "it can work but I wouldn't do it." Now if you wouldn't do it then why would you say it can work? The person is asking for good advise and im sure he/she wants to know if it WILL work not if it CAN work. BTW there is a difference between a fish that is living and a fish that is thriving. There is also a difference between a happy fish and a sad stressed fish even though they don't have feelings.

I agree, seems like us Colorado folks have a bit more common sense here!

Not to say anything against the Trusts fish keeping style but, exactly where do these fish have room to establish terrotories. And for the record I would not recommend anyone keep 3 oscars in a 60. But if they were willing to do the required maintenance then it could possibly work.

Would not work, end of story, this thread is stupid..... We have a ton of people saying that it wont work and one saying that it will. And comparing this the Trust's tank is not the same, those fish have the room to swim around. In a 60 gallon there is not enough room for them to move around, and then you add in that you are overcrowding the tank also..... WILL NOT WORK. I would just have 1 O and a couple other fish in a 60 gallon.

Im not jumping into this just stated my opinion and I'm saying yes you can do it. Just make sure you have a ridiculous filtration amount and lots of wcs:thumbsup:
