If i were you.. I would just find a new job that is at your house.;) Mainly as from this thread, it sounds like you need added safety any way.

A gun may detour a few criminals.. But It will get someone like you killed real quick too.. Chances are that the assailant of the last victims already had their weapon pulled.. That means you would have to pull your CW before someone more likely to shoot someone put two in you! Coy if you ask me.. Just deal with getting mugged and living or face being dead....

I don't know.. What do you think?

If the fellow just wanted my wallet and had a gun at my face and seemed very focused (good) at what he is doing but doesnt seem like he will kill me I will gladly hand him my wallet. However I would carry in my back pocket so reaching for my weapon would be no different then reaching for my wallet and if I notice the bad guy is irrational, strung out, high/drunk, or really intent on killing me, I will pull my weapon and fire. I will take my chances. These are things you can only THINK you can prepare for but when it happens you have to use your brain. Fortunately most people that carry have had some form of training and most bad guys are cracked out individuals that really have no clue what they are doing. I will take the CCWer any day in the situation even if the bad guy has the jump on the CCWer.

In all reality who knows what we would do faced in these situations. I may just get in the fetal position and mess my pants!! All I know is that I can at least acknowledge there is a risk ( a very small one but still a risk), be aware of my surroundings and people, and prepare my self for what could happen.

It just makes me sick to think how helpless the general population is. Again going back to the VT shootings. He had lined up some people execution style. Why didnt they fight back? Throw books and chairs? Or rush him during a reload? Why was it that a 70+ year old holocaust survivor who was sadly shot and killed that day was the only one who attempted to hold the door to keep the shooter out?

what i wanted to express was this: if carrying will make you more cavalier, don't do it. If it gives you greater confidence but you know when to surrender, then by all means do so. the point i brought up was because i knew half dozen people who are now worm food because they got brave because they were carrying a knife or firearm.

i couldnt agree more with this. i can only imagine what is going through these people's head as they are lined up against the wall. ive never been in a situation like this, but please believe im not gonna just bend over and take it.

for crying out loud, your lined up against a wall, getting executed one at a time. what do you think are your chances of surviving? guarantee they'll be a little better if you make a desperate attempt to fight back. if you get killed in the process, oh well, it was gonna happen anyways. at least you gave it what you had, with or w/o a weapon.

do people honestly think the guy will have a change of heart? i doubt it.

oh, here's a quick heads up jd7 if you do decide to go with the p3at

"During last summer I bought a Kel-Tec P3AT and some personal defense "defender" ammo produced by MagSafe. I often practiced with my Kel-Tec at the range using standard Federal American Eagle, but due to the extreme cost, never fired the MagSafe ammo. I carried concealed with MagSafe in the magazine and chamber for 9 months due to their claims for stopping power and safety.

Three weeks ago I was at the range and decided to try the MagSafe. On the first shot, the back of the cartridge peeled apart like a grape. The magazine blew out the bottom of the pistol, the slide bent and blew off the top, the frame split on the left side and every rivet blew out. My hand was blackened like in a bad Roadrunner/Wiley Coyote movie, but not injured. The gun collapsed into a pile of debris.

My gunsmith called MagSafe and was told OH YEAH. WE'VE BLOWN UP TWO OF THOSE PISTOLS WITH OUR AMMO. WE NOW HAVE A STICKER ON THE PACKAGE THAT SAYS DO NOT USE WITH KEL-TEC P3AT. They said their ammo is extremely hot and exceeds SAMI specs (though it's not marked +P or +P+). Then they seemed to get personal about my level of intelligence and ability to read. Note, there was no warning sticker about the P3AT on the package I bought last year.

Kel-Tec was concerned immediately, and indicated that the gun is designed to break down under a KB such as this to protect the shooter by dissipating the force of the explosion. They wanted to examine the parts to learn from this accident. They offered complete replacement of the gun, even though it was clearly the over-juiced ammo at fault.

Thursday the brand new replacement arrived with the same serial number as the destroyed gun, so I don't have a lot of registraion gymnastics to do here in the Peoples' Republik of New York.

Thank you Kel-Tec, for your concern and for the outstanding positive customer relations you demonstrated.

MagSafe will never ride in my guns again, as my opinion is that it is unsafe."

That is what has really drawn me to Kel-Tecs, their customer service. Kel-Tecs are FAR from a top of the line pistol, but their customer service and the fact the P3AT is pretty much the smallest auto pistol out there really brings them up on the list of guns to own!

Yup!! No doubt I would rather put a crappy piece in my hands and get a brand new one after i'm dead with the excellent cutsomer service.

You really are not serious right? If you truly value your life enough; and are going to buy a piece of equipment like this, to protect you.. then My suggestion is do not ask to get your self smoked by buying cheap..

In my opinion the fact that it is well known that they have good customer service;for malfunctioning fire arms, is NOT A GOOD THING!

You pull your Gun, it explodes, I shoot you.... The wonderful customer service sends your family an awesome brand new piece of CRAP as compensation.

Buy a real quality Firearm or don't buy a fire arm at all. Especially if you are expecting it to help you out of a life and death situation!:irked:

I would much rather see you posting and going to counseling for; a natural "It was them or me" Act, than to add you to my signature for a moment of insanity;)

Do I sound that inexperienced? I would obviously make sure any weapon I carry is running great before I carried it. Most of the P3ATs do run great out of the box and the ones that dont, well Kel-Tec will take care of it. See if Springfield or Kimber would do such a thing for their 1911's. lol

just remember, never look down the barrel, never keep a round chambered, always check your safety, and keep your finger off the trigger

LoL!

I look down the barrels of fire arms all the time, especially at gun shows. Of course I check and check again to make sure the weapon is cleared.

Rounds are always chambered when carrying.

My current carry doesnt even have a safety.

And yeah, finger is never on the trigger!
