It's certainly part of it as I should have clarified in my post.I blame places like Petsmart and the internet mostly for the demise of the mom and pop shop.
in regards to the LFS or you mean a novice hobbyist that comes in and buys a rare fish without knowing about it?Properly caring for those fish is rare...
*I wonder if any newbies/novices hobbyist would drop few thousand dollars for some rare fishes on impulse buyProperly caring for those fish is rare...
I'd say the rarest are the platinum barramundi, the cuban gar, the AUL, and the intermedia bass. Other than that, the rest are definitely not commonly kept, but you could probably special order them if you wanted without any trouble. Someone on the MFK marketplace probably regularly has those as well. But those four... good luck finding themThere are maybe 3-5 fish on that list i would consider rare, otherwise even platinum gars have been quite common overe here lately...
Seen about 4-6 (2.5'-3') platinum gars for sale, all different stores...
The cuban gar and black bars stand out as maybe less seen but definitely not impossible to get, just need to find an LFS that deals with imports... Which again, over here not hard if you got the cash...
Here's his reply to me telling him he's wrong and asking where his LFS is:
"our sure doing a lot of talking to someone who can't admit they are wrong. Get out of your little box and look around. I'd tell you where I got my bass, but your not talking to someone who can't admit they are wrong. Ta ta junior. Dumb ass..."
Lol, I give up on this guy. Still want to know where that shop is though !
