Yeah, and to those who say it's better to be safe than sorry,it's better to just not answer the door at all..That way you'll stay out of prison for shooting someone for the heinous crime of being at your door.

on Normal circumstances I always take a peak to see whos there. No one ever comes unless they are invited or called first. But I have let strangers in my place to sell My fish to them which on a after thought is kinda reckless. What are yall thoughts on selling fish to stranger and how to tell if they are Legit or potential robbers?

To be honest its pretty scary what i read here. Why do you need to be so scared? Why open a door while holding a gun? Is that really necessary there? I thought that is only in movies? I don't think such a violent society has a positive effect on your health. Idk what to say about this. Maybe such a hostility between the people is wanted to seperate people from each other?

I can't speak for others but were I live it is protection. I live in some what of a bad area if you read my previous post. I rather be safe then sorry and growing up in that lifestyle I've seen a lot of crazy things happen to innocent people. I don't really need the gun since I am a former boxer I can seriously hurt someone with my hands but when someone has a gun staring at them they gunna be pooping bricks but worse comes to worse ill probably knock their lights out before shooting them.

Just because someone wants to carry a gun or have one on hand in their house if something goes wrong, doesn't make them crazy or paranoid, just cautious. I don't have a gun, like I said, and more then likely wouldn't answer the door with one but that doesn't mean I wouldn't if I felt threatened/insecure. When I was around 9/10 my babysitter answered the door to a stranger and the next thing I know we're being held at gunpoint and the guy is stealing my GameCube. That same house was robbed after that and so we moved. I've lived in a few houses that had break-ins and have known people who had to deal with this same issue. It's not about being paranoid, it's about protecting yourself. Right now I'm between 4 different houses (very long story) and two of which are in the country, so no one should be knocking at the door and if so only family, one of which has had stuff stolen from it and a car almost taken, so I think answering the door with a gun there wouldn't be outlandish. I'm not saying there aren't crazy people who answer the door with a gun but you never know whose at your door.

Just the other day I let someone in to sell one of my fish to.The buyer is a member here who is not a very active poster and that is the extent of my knowing him.He checked out the fish, closed the deal,we talked fish for a few minutes and then he left.

whoa, that guy was pulling off a big-time heist
:screwy:

Well you obviously wouldn't just shoot them for no reason. I live in a very good neighborhood and don't worry about who comes to my door. That being said, we live in a world with sick people and it's hard to trust people. I feel more comfortable knowing my little 380's in my pocket just in case.
