WTB Non Silica sand for 300gl****SoCal

Looking for some substrate that is Non-Silica and that will not get caught in the filter (I hear fine sand is a pain)

i believe all sand and gravels have silica in them.....

why are you specifying non silica ??

Is there a specific type/grade of heavy sand for Sugar Rays???

Silica based sand is like all the other sands. It doesn't get stuck in any filters more than other sands.

You need to rinse/wash them all off before adding them to the tank to get rid of the lighter particles.

You will not find it in an LFS. I am suprised they haven't figured out to carry it yet, and even if they did, you'd be paying like $30-40 a bag.
I have no idea where to find it in LA. I will try to find that place in Riverside. Probably the most I can do for ya!

I'm going to try to see if they have the white sand.
Kind of new to looking for sand, what exactly am I looking for since all sand has Silica in it?? Is there a certain amount of Silica that would not effect my Ray?
