Why not contact G and see if he still has those foot long Cynopotomus? If that isn't a rare Characin I don't know what is.

I will have to check em out. Are they the ones that look kind of like over grown Charax gibbus?

Has any one ever seen these FW snapper available, Lutjanus goldiei & Lutjanus fuscescens? They look AWESOME!

I still REALLY want an armatus but Im not going to pay some one $300-400 for one when they paid $50 for it 6 weeks ago! Especially with how common they are now!

I really wish Wes was still importing. :(

Yeah the ones that look like a Charax but are over a foot. Price is right too..... IF he still has them. REAL touchy subject on the Armatus price...... IF you went to your local LFS and picked up an Armatus for $50 what are YOU going to sell it for? EXACTLY.

Im going to sell it for what ever I can get for it. Rare fish are a buyers market with just a few exceptions (black rays being one). Besides it seems the source has been found for armatus and I expect to see them hit the availability lists every year now. Prices will moderate now that several hundred have been imported all at once. People are crazy if they think the price will be what it was when only a couple dozen were imported a year!

For the record I think $150-200 is fair for a 4-6" armatus.

Ask yourself some of these questions... How much did you pay for your 3" Armatus from River Wonders last year, including shipping? How much did you sell your Armatus in later of last year? Although 400 of them was imported this year, I believe about 50 survive. So, $50 x 400 = $2000.00. 50 x $400 = $2000.00. Make sense? You can set whatever price you want to pay. Buyer can set whatever price he wants to sell.. No common ground, no fish :grinno: :grinno: :grinno: Of course, you can wait for next year to start another thread asking question if the freshly import "guppies" is Tat or Armatus, just like what happened 2 months ago :ROFL::ROFL:

I got my 4" armatus from RW for $250 shipped last year when they were very rare and hadnt been imported since Mr. Fear himself brought like eight of them in. I sold him for $600 4 months later at 12" in size. To my knowledge he was the first armatus offered for sale on MFK that was completley off of live and hand feeding. Not to mention his phenomenal growth. So, in summary Im willing to pay up to $200 for a juvi armatus which is still alot considering I paid only slightly more SHIPPED from RW back before they were imported in any numbers.

Actually, Armatus wasn't rare when RW offered them up for sale here last year. Only in later of last year, they became "rare." Same like Armatus wasn't rare when Infinite offered them for sale 6 weeks ago. They're hard to get now, and "rare" in some area.

Huh? Im confused? Had there ever been an importation of H. armatus and marketed as such before George at SA and Isaac with RW brought them in? If not then the hundreds Rich brought in and the dozens Pedro brought in only added to the numbers in the country from RW and SA. More fish in the country = less rare according to my math.

They are tough to get, sure, but its not like 2006 or before mid 2007 when they were damn near impossible to get! Back then only ballers like DonH and R1 had multiple armatus' and now I can think of several people that own more then one.

I think Mr. Goliathtigerman was also bringing them in. Maybe I misunderstood. $200 shipped...... That was the price when they were first brought in and UN-identified. I payed $140 for shipping. 1 or 5 didn't matter...... And when I bought mine from RiverWonders it was still well over $300 after shipping. $250 and $60 or $70 for shipping. I'de like to know an EXACT count of how many made it from Rich's shipment.... I believe I speculated less than 25% would make it....LOL I'm guessing less than 50.
