WTF?? Festae's face turned completely BLACK!!

I read something a loooong time back, don't remember where, but I've heard it has a lot to do with water quality. It effects Midas, Parrot fish etc... it's some kind of a disease if I recall correctly..

i think i know what you're talking about, but if I remember right it was a black spot disease...basically looked like ick only black.

I've never seen anything like this...gotta admit it's kinda cool looking.

there are several threads about this happening to peacock bass, it goes away after a while and the fish is usually fine

old thread, but i seen a pbass at the store like this..wondered why it was black/ dark like that..it's face.

Hey remember this fish? I went back to The Fish Gallery and he is back to normal. I even had to ask if it's the same fish and they say it is. They were just as surprised as I was that he suddenly wasn't two-face any more.

This happens occasionally in discus. Some have theorized it's nerve damage or bruising caused by trauma or injury. In some instances it goes away over time.
