I'm a lower level manager at my local walmart (hey, its an ok part time job for a college student.) I go to fish as often as I can to feed them and do a little general maintenance, but honestly you're right - the store doesn't care at all about the fish. There is actually NO ONE assigned to the "department." If a customer needs help, they grab whoever is nearby. There are always tons of dead fish in the tanks. The higher-ups don't care at all about the fish - it is only touched when filling the tanks. It's pretty sad. I've seen ich, mites, you name it in the tanks. Actually, I'm careful to scrub down well after doing what I can for the tanks so as not to spread anything to my tanks at home.
 
Wow I've seen a lot of bad fish at Wally World but that's probably a new worst for me.

lol, like the CEO of Walmart cares. Once Sam Walton died, his kids took over and turned the Wal Mart name to ****.
 
Walmart does not care about there fish dept it brings them no money so why waste time on it? And in those kind of set ups one fish gets ich they all do. I worked there in pets for a while and I can say it doesn't really matter what you do for goldfish in those tanks I had days where 40-50 feeders died. And to cuss out the manager over it? They probably know nothing about fish, they have more important things going on than making sure someone is treating the fish 24/7. Not trying to say it right just giving another POV

When you are in charge of the store, you are in charge of the departments in the store as well. That's why the manager was cussed. Not to mention the reaction I received when I brought it to his attention. I have spent my last dollar there, thats for sure.

That is what you call a Wal-Mart fish tank. Ive been all over the us. And I can always count on seeing a dead fish in there tank. I dont like watching them bag fish. And Wal-Mart even color ciats and has instruction s on what water to use in the bags and what tanks use. But petsmart is not much better. I was planning on breeding oscars and grabbed 5 from petsmart. And all but one albino oscars died. And that was in a quarantine tank with parasite meds. All but one within 11 days.

But if there are still dog fights going on to tgis day. No one will ever care how walmart or petsmart treat, or care for there fish.
