Haven't seen a fish in Walmart ( Canada) for years and i think its for this reason alone.
I say frig them and send it to the newspaper I hate seeing neglected tanks.A lfs by me lost his business from me for the same thing .

Joeypaul keep us updated cause I really hate the idea that Walmart just does what they want and never have to take responsibility for their actions.

report them... end of story. i was in local walmart just yesterday and all of their tanks were overstocked and had mass death in them. specifically the oscar tank. it might be a 10 gallon and there were more than 40 tiger oscars in it living with another dozen or so dead on the bottom and a cloud of excess food and waste. the convict tank had more than 100 fish in it with plenty dead also and the same waste problem

send pictures to consumerist.com, and tell the story about how they didn't care.

When things end up on that site, places suddenly seem to start caring.

Don't buy ANYTHING there... not just fish... not just pet-related stuff... Nothing... Nada... Don't even go in the store. And send them a letter explaining why...

Matt

The manager told me he didn't care. And it was another shifts responsibility. I almost knocked him unconscious. I called corporate and notta. I also called my vet. No more buying anything pet related ever again.

The CEO of Wal Mart doesn't care about fish. Or much of anything but people spending their money at Wal Mart.

Enough people say that they're not going to spend their money at Wal Mart for the way they treat fish (employees, women, veterans, American manufactures, communities, etc.), then maybe they'll eventually change their ways.

Matt

I agree you can really get a response from talking to the CEO, try doing all of the above.

We see this in our local Petco. If you ask me - only shop reliable fish breeders and their stores. Most box stores are horrendous and know so little about real fish care. What a shame!

This thread isn't going to do anything to make Walmart better.
