This is more of a bit of a rant, but seriously they have nothing in between working fine and dead.

About a year ago mine switched it's self on with the flashing red ring of death, I'd not even played for 2 days and it broke when it was switched off?

Yesterday I was actually playing on it when it froze, to which I thought, 'wow it's rare for a 360 to crash'. Switched it off and on and again and all was good until I got to the same part and it froze again. I thought hmmmm disc problem. Switched off and back on again, changed games and it froze again. Switched it off and on again and 4 red lights, a new one on me.

So I rang Xbox and they said have you removed the hard drive and put it back on? So I did and there it was the 3 red lights of death, 100% perfect to dead inside 15 minutes.

This time I think they have upgraded to something called the falcon board or something, lets see how long the new one lasts when it arrives.

Although very annoying I can't fault the customer service, when they break you just send it back and you get a new one, it's just so frustrating when it happens.

I know what u mean man , happeded to me last year with my nephews 360, . bout a moddd one this year and its still all good .

i went through two 360's. both got the rrod so i gave up and bought a ps3. greatest move i ever made.

Wow man. You know you can fix the RROD yourself right? When you ship it in all microsoft does is install thermal pads on your xBox. Take your xbox apart, take off the dvd drive and everything so it's just the chip, take off all loose wires. After that preheat your oven to 385 degrees, and stick the motherboard in for about 2 minutes. No longer, take it and wala. Fixed xbox.
Or you can wrap it up in a towel and let it overheat for 20 mins. This trick only works for aoubt 5 days before you have to do it again.

Why fix it yourself when microsoft can replace it?

Yeah if you take it apart you lose your warranty. Mine doesn't read discs anymore so I'm just waiting to call microsoft. Already sent one away for ring of death. Pretty much all my friends with 360s are on their second or third because of these problems.

Because they don't replace it... They install thermal pads that are purposely designed bad so your xBox breaks again.
Just warp it in a towel then if you don't want to open it up.

That's why I have a PS3 from day one and still going strong

I bought the add-on intercooler. No problems as of yet.
