Take your xbox apart, take off the dvd drive and everything so it's just the chip, take off all loose wires. After that preheat your oven to 385 degrees, and stick the motherboard in for about 2 minutes. No longer, take it and wala. Fixed xbox.
Or you can wrap it up in a towel and let it overheat for 20 mins. This trick only works for aoubt 5 days before you have to do it again.
Agreed with the above, why try to fix it yourself. I'm not really a microsoft fan, but for me after they finally said they'd fix the problem you can't beat digging $1billion into your own funds and adding another 2 years to the warranty. I can't see sony doing so, granted there system doesn't seem to fail as much, but again at this stage of the 360's life there weren't that many problems as well.ozz465;3202033; said:Why fix it yourself when microsoft can replace it?
Partly true, before the warranty extension, loads of people took there system apart modded or not and still got replacements. Lets face it you've got a broken out of warranty brick, your going to open it up and try.monsternoob;3202068; said:Yeah if you take it apart you lose your warranty. Mine doesn't read discs anymore so I'm just waiting to call microsoft. Already sent one away for ring of death. Pretty much all my friends with 360s are on their second or third because of these problems.
The intercooler is a good one, IMO I'd rarther it break every 12-18 months in warranty than try and extend the time when let's face it it probably will fail, possibly out of warranty.ewurm;3202146; said:I bought the add-on intercooler. No problems as of yet.
It's well ventilated. I'm not trying to start a war with this.....Onion01;3202236; said:get a ps3 lol
have you played on the carpet? I've heard even the slightest covering of the heat ports can cause a fatal overheating
Personally I prefer the 360 over the PS3, more games and better exclusives. The PS3 is good, but at the time I got my 360 it was only just released and mega money. This is my problem with the PS3, when it first came out it was expensive because of two things, blue ray and emulation of PS2. Sony had to fit it with blueray because it had to win the HD disc war(which they would have lost had the 360 had a HDDVD drive as standard). Sony's solution to the cost, get rid of the emulation, thus excluding everyone from playing PS2 discs on the PS3. I have the same problem with blueray, yes sure it's better than DVD, but they want you to go out and buy all the films you have on another format again, just like when DVD came out, sorry I'm not paying full price for a film I've got on video and DVD again. The only reason DVD took off is the same is when CD's came out, stuff the quality, you don't have to rewind and fastforward.
Agreed.rmorse;3203291; said:All your talk about the PS3....Psh. The PS3 still breaks, just not NEARLY as common as the 360. The difference? Microsoft will fix your 360 for free...
Would much rather be able to just mail away my broken toy, and have it fixed, then have to shell out another $500 for a new toy. Which, btw, is coming from a company who is going downhill, and are already so far in a hole with their toy (they have lost, and continue to lose, soooo much money on PS3's, they don't want to fix the broken ones)
