Xbox 360 when they die they just die

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The only people that have a problem with the 360 are the early models. I have a friend who had one and it died on him after 1 year. He also had another two replacements go bad on him. He finally switched to a PS3.

I had an early xbox 360 and sold it to my cousin when the PS3 was launched. It died on him about 7 months ago.

Another friend bought a 360 last christmas and has had no problems so far.

Meanwhile my launch PS3 is still fine and I have never had a problem with it.

As far as which one is best, it depends on your gaming preferences.

I think Sony took a HUGE risk with putting Blu Ray and the cell processor in because that made it expensive.

However I think Sony made the right choice and it is going to pay off in the long run because like it or not M$ is going to have to release another console sooner rather than later and in the meantime developers will be comfortable with the PS3 architecture and will be making awesome games.

Yeah, but you should also include the fact that the 360 came to market a year before the ps3...that was tons of revenue for ms and the 360 is still outselling the ps3 to this day. The ps2 is still outselling the ps3!

I see your point, the ps3 is a big machine, but I don't think bluray will last as long as the dvd medium. I think its going to come down to hard drive space in the long run which both machines have, but ms can sell addons, where ps3's need to be pulled apart.

Also, the arcade versions are now being shipped with 512mb internal drives:

and, just confirmed, a new xbox will hit stores next year:

ms is totally going after the wii with the motion capturing style of gaming. I think this is going to leave sony scrambling to hold on. I'm not for sure though, I don't follow the ps3 news as much.

edit: whoops, looks like ps3 is going to have a motion controller too. the 360 will be full body motion control though.

Microsoft had to get a jump on the PS3. They really didn't have a market share with the first xbox.

M$ being hasty also was the reason that they had such a high failure rate.

I am glad to see M$ doing well (I did buy one myself 10 months before the PS3 launched) because now Sony got a rude awakening that they are not the only name in gaming.

When the PS2 launched I really liked the Dreamcast. I believe it was an awesome console with much potential but the use of CD Roms and piracy killed it off.

After the dreamcast, there was no other console that competed. The xbox 1 had a small following and the gamecube was never a threat although it still kind of lives on as the updated Wii.

I am a playstation fan and I will tell you why...MGS. (Starcraft on PC before that)

That is the only reason I sold my N64 and bought a playstation.

Then Socom for PS2.

I just felt the PS3 was worth the money because of blu ray and the cell.

Games like Uncharted, MGS4, and KZ2 make it clear to me where the PS3 is going.

Just wanted to comment on the sentence "The xbox 1 had a small following"

Where were you when the original xbox came out? Ever heard of Halo? Xbox had a MASSIVE fanbase....

I've had my 360 for six months and I've never had any problems with it, except it did freeze a few times the first couple months I had it. The newer ones have better cooling systems so they do not overheat as easily, but the fan is really loud and takes a while to get used to.

I guess our definitions of massive are quite different.

How many original xboxs were sold during it's lifetime? 25 million more or less no?

I think the PS2 has sold 130 million and counting...

I take it you never played SOCOM and realised just how many people were on the servers on a daily basis.

Nope, never played SOCOM. I should have though...

While the ps2's numbers are impressive, it had one year in production over the xbox, as well as an already MASSIVE fanbase, carrying over from the original PS...
