This is right funny, I hate it how American films make out us Brits all have these posh accents, you wanna hear our Northern version of the Queens English!

IMO, the most striking difference between British and American English is grammatical. In American English, groups, corporations, agencies, etc., are viewed as a single entity, whereas, in British English as well as in most of the Commonwealth nations, they are viewed as a plural entity. Verb conjugations and pronoun choices differ accordingly. Here are a few examples:

American English:
Metallica sucks!

British English:
Metallica suck!

American English:
Ford is introducing its new Focus.

British English:
Ford are introducing their new Focus.

American English:
McDonald's Corporation owns Chipotle.

British English:
McDonald's Corporation own Chipotle.

Weird, huh?
