Ok just kidding. Why insted of trying to force him into the open you dont make him came to you?
. You lose your biology project but he will likely lose its life Also you could try to make friends whit it. As for this remenbar that the way for a lizard (or turtle,cat,dog,etc) heart must came for the "make him came to you" aproach. Lots of food,no sudden movs and no loud noises are good starting points.
