Thank you for the tip on using freeze dried versus frozen. I am honestly feeling like a noob here. lol

Good question. At this moment, I have a 29 that isn't set up and I have a 10 gallon nursery tank. I have fry in there now, but they can go in with the Community fish anytime. I have the 29 I have been planning on putting the Aro in, plus, I have a 20 that is housing an isolated Cichlid (which could go to the LFS if I need the space...no disease issues, just on time out for bad behaviour). All together, I have 12 HOBs on tanks now, so I could get the spare 29 going quickly. I am picking up a 49 cube and the other 55 later this week. Plus, after the PM I got last night, I might be getting the new 125 as early as next week.

Good point on the current. Now that I think about it, one HOB will be enough to handle the bio load initially. Once they get an inch or so on them, I can fire up the second. Another inch and I can start the canister.

Is it OK to admit I am getting excited to have these guys in the house? :D

I agree with your plan. The idea is to introduce them all in the tank where they will be at the same time.

Congratulations on the Aro! bet you cant wait to pick him up :D Looking forward to seeing some pics of your DIY tank. Hope all goes well with your little guy! An i also agree if your building the tank its better to get it right from the start an 3' is definitely the way to go!

Well, he didn't come in. Not sure why except that he wasn't in last night's shipment. I admit, I am pretty disappointed! But, looking on the bright side...3 more were ordered and now we can go with the plan as suggested. Next Wednesday is the day! (It's going to be a long week!)

Update...or lack of one actually.

The weather turned bad here (as it did in much of the US) so we decided to delay shipping. Finally, a single arrived last Tuesday, but he didn't survive the night at the LFS. I was finally able to convince the owner to at least let me pay his costs since he ordered it on my word alone.

He placed another order for expected arrival this coming Tuesday. Seeing all the recent photos of new Arowana is driving me nuts! But, the good news is I've had more time to properly prepare.

I am hoping by this time next week that I have Arowana thriving in their new home!

those are loooong awaited aro's......

No kidding! I could order myself, but then I would have shipping, have to make sure I am home when they arrive and hope there weren't any shipping delays. It's amazing how bad the weather got and then how quickly it warmed up. It was odd yesterday seeing people running around outside in t-shirts with huge piles of snow piled up around them. My daughter and I went to a Husky Rescue meet up at Petsmart yesterday. I was driving down the interstate with the windows down lol. It was 42F...seemed like 72!

I am hoping this Tuesday is the big day!

from my exp your comune at the early stage wont end well. best to seperate and try later. i had 10 eggsacked aros mixed at once. they killed eachother one by one. mostly in the night when i couldn't see them doing it. they got around every divider i could make. i have one left from that mess. i am still trying to get a comunity together, but my best results were when i got 5x 4" silvers and put them with my 6-7" aro. they all were 100% fine with no fights. of all that one hit its head and died, one jumped inbetween my top and the center brace and died, one found its way to the floor, the last two were eatten by my pbass of the same size at the same time.

my ponit is that from my exp best to try at the 4-5" mark.
