Your biggest mistake

Trying to keep a 15" black bullhead in with a 26" rtc lol. I'll catch another one this year. I'd say getting tons of huge catfish and having to build a 4000 gal tank just to keep up with them!

I think the biggest, and the one that hurt the most, was buying ghost shrimp for my tank.

I had a 125 set up with my favorite fish, a long nosed elephant nose. He was awesome, never hid, and would eat out of my husband's hand. He was a beggar, and was just the most awesome fish. We "rescued" him from a LFS, he was in a 20 gallon with no hides, and 100 little neons. He was going nuts, and banging into the sides of the tank. We had to have him.

I noticed he was missing. I figured he was just hiding, but we decided to look for him. Nothing, and no dried up fish on the floor. But, when moving logs and rocks, we found this HUGE crayfish, that must have come in with a load of ghost shrimp that we had bought. Couldn't have been very big when he came in, but he obviously ate well.

A few days later, we had a clogged canister filter. We found a skeleton in the intake...must have been my elephant nose. I am guessing that the crayfish got him while he was asleep. That really hurt.

Hi there, pretty new here but I can think of a few. My first tank actually went well. One thing is that you should always have a generator, or not live in BFE. One Christmas we went without elec. for 3 days. That was expensive. Only lost some small fish luckily.

Having our clown knife with an oscar, the oscar ended up dying. Big mistake, as hubby was very upset of his loss.

Buying stuff from a jerkwad store owner and not knowing where the products came from. Dealing with a jerkwad owner.

Oh yeh, and letting my hubby get that clown knife, as he's awesome but an expensive pet. :)

i shut off my main filter pump to feed on Saturday morning and did not notice that I forgot to turn it back on until this morning. It cost me my favorite fish. Porcupine puffer, lionfish, humu humu, and my niger. The Bursa is looking very strained. I heard another member doing the same thing and was going to implement a timer that only shut the pump of for an hour during feeding but have learned from my mistake.

emptied a tank with my drain clogged knocked out the tiles of my drop cealing in the kitchen below

Trusting a cheap heater. It went supernova and I found everyone belly-up. That was back when mom and dad were paying the fish bills...many years later, I no longer cheap out and so only make expensive mistakes. :nilly:

Turned off 2 AC 110 to feed my heavily stocked, planted 50gal tank. Next morning when I realized my mistake I had to fish out about $1000 worth of drowned fish. Including Sunshine pleco, Royal Blue Eyed Panaque, 7 Clown Loaches, Assorted Rainbows, and so on. 38 fish total. Such a stupid mistake to make.

back in the day i had a small flowerhorn and just got a red devil and i didnt realize my flowerhorn was that mean and i left for about an hour and the flowerhorn had completly destroyed my red devil...needless to say my flowerhorn is in a tank of his own and looking better than ever..wont make that mistake again.

walmart is really bad the tanks are crowed and my worst mistake was when i went to a freids house on a storm day and the power went out wen i got home my red devil was ded but my oscar was still a live
