well my plan is to let him build the tank, add all the quipment to it then before he can even dream of what sort of fish he is going to put in there, i'll already have the fish that i want to go into that tank in quarantine at home :D so he wont be able to do anything about it! i'll just add them in on the same day when its all set up! HA! :headbang2

that plan only works if the tank is cycled before the fish go in.

basically i had told the builders to leave my door closed to where my fishtanks were in that room. they were varnishing the wooden floors in my house. the next thing i know...i come back...the door is wide open...i wake up the next day...they are all dead, sank onto the sand at the bottom of the tank. not one single fish survived apart from a poly. so i stripped all my tanks, only kept a 110gal running and a few 50gals. the 2 200gal tanks have gone into storage for another time.
Dang...that totally sux!

well then i'd say its just my luck i already have canisters running in my tanks already waiting for the new equipment to be switched ;) in the meantime my fish get extra filtration so everyone happy :D

left my heater on while doing a water change. the glass cracked and it filled up with water which than started boiling quite violently

I PUT MY 28" RTC in my 800 gal outside pond. the pond bombed overnight and he died. middle of summer, no heater used, water was at about 70F. dunno wtf happened

not really my mistake but my uncle had a 180 gal reef tank with about 4000 bucks in live rock, reef creatures, and invertebrate. He took a few weeks for vacation, leaving the tank. since it was summertime and since he had extremely high wattage on the tank, when he got home he found everything had been cooked since he forgot to leave the air conditioner on for the fish. to add insult to injury, he had just sold the tank for thousands as a complete setup. he still hates talking about it year later

I started off with a 60 gallon set up with a couple of oscars, some african cichlids, parrot, Green terror, jack dempsey. I thought that these guys were aggressive enough to tank mate with a red devil. Huge mistake. I swear that red devil was the meanest lil bastard ever!!

That sob killed off my jack and green terror first. Then slaughtered my african cichs. I had trouble giving it away. I learned that red devils are not good tank mates. I'll never get another unless its got its own set up. Lesson learned.
