do you keep your dog/dogs inside or outside?

my neighbors dogs i feel bad for
always barking, chained up,out in the cold

i know sled dogs sleep outside in the snow but they are snow dogs right?

so whats your take on this?

obviously my dog is an inside dog lol

My neighbors have three dogs all outside IN town. They used to be inside but for some reason they have not seen the inside of the house for months. They do however have free roam of this outside kenel that is atached to thier garage. so they can get inside. But they bark ALL the time.

My dog stays inside. and he's about the size of two of the neighbors dogs. lol

outside but they arent chained, its never cold and the have plent of room. (2 dachsunds)

my dog sleeps with me. sometimes i take the covers off my wife and put on him. for some reason she doesn't think its funny. makes me laugh though :)

Plus I don't understand why anyone would get a dog just so it could sit outside by itself and whine/bark all day and night.
exactly

Ugh, I hate when people try to humanize their dogs, in the long run it's bad for everyone. Coddling you DOG makes then think they're the pack leader, so when they put YOU in your place, you tell then "bad!" or worse, hit them, which leads to an unhappy and confused dog.
Mine know who their leader is, and they seem much happier for it, they don't have the responsibility of the pack on their shoulders.
I sounds like a complete nut unless you sped a lot of time training dogs, and researching :D

I have some disagreement with this, as it's not all people in that category that are this way. My dogs are deeply loved, and they know that, but they also know EXACTLY who the pack leaders are. My dogs are extremely well trained, well mannered, well behaved, and busting with joy from awake to asleep. If trained from day one, you can have a wonderful indoor dog.

However, I do know exactly the people you are talking about. Most of the ones that jump into mind are the pocket-pups, purse dogs. They are pampered to the point of mistreatment. I saw a lady the other day pushing her pom in a freaking stroller!

My dog is an inside dog for the most part. I like to take her outside to play and exercise/walks when I can but I would never leave her outside without someone being home. Granted I live in FL and it doesn't get cold often - my dog loves the cold, granted she is a spitz mix or simply put a type of snow/hunting dog. I give my dog lots of love and attention but she knows who is boss.

sled dogs may be kept outside, but they get lots of exercise-which every dog needs whether it is big or small, and its daily companionship and interaction with humans.

this is a pet peeve of mine-we have a few ppl in our neighborhood who have chained dogs.. to a doghouse all the way in the back of the yard. they get maybe.. maybe 5 whole minutes of interaction with a human a day.

dogs need to be part of a pack.. a family. they are miserable otherwise and lonely. i never understood why ppl buy dogs just to plant them in the backyard for the rest of their miserable lives.

i dont humanize dogs-they are dogs after all lol. but i believe they need to belong to a family and feel loved and not discarded and forgotten. just like i believe every dog needs exercise daily (my yorkie and i walk a mile a day), discipline,, and then love-and in that order.

Well then, you are not disagreeing with me! :D
Mine are spoiled, they have warm bed, I cook for them, they get lots of love every day, but when people treat them like humans it normally goes south.
One of mine DOES sleep in my bed, this is not good for dominating dogs, as the leader is supposed to have the nicest, most comfy bed.
But she's little, getting old and knows her place very well. so she gets away with it.

YES!! There was one with 2 yorkies doing the same thing, and thank god they were strapped in, as soon as I came into view of them thy completely lost it and tried to attack me and my pit, who gave them a look like they weren't worth her time lol
And my brothers GF has the most spoiled chihuahua on earth, she gets cuddled CONSTANTLY, even if she's biting.
And she bites hard, not like the usual mouthing, if she was a large dog this would be even more serious, I have told them how to stop this behavior but they won't do it.
I had her behaving with me well, by simply ignoring her, getting up, turning around ect. when she jumped and bit. But the brother(and my other brother who stays there at times) hit her, not hard of course, but she finds it a great game. Yes, off topic, lol
