Getting a crenicichla sp. venezuela with my 30cm IT which 1 week later the crenicichla stressed it to death the IT was not cheap and he was my favorite fish.

I thought someone was going to comment something about their kids lmao. But my worst mistake was putting my tank in my room. It takes up a lot of room because my room is really small. I want to move It to my living room really badly or my basement

There's days I could say it about my second son (4yrs) ... but I've another mistake actually. Following the advice of a guy giving me a free 30G tank (when I've never had fish before) with fish in it already too big for the tank. Then following that advice for over 3 yrs.

my worst mistake I made was when I was new to the hobby and hardly ever changed the water. I went out and bought like 12 tricolor sharks and put them in my 150 then went out too lunch, when i came back they were all dead, that was an expensive mistake

i used a garden hose off the sink to fill the 55 did not know that the hose came off the sink until i realized i was loosing water, flooded the kitchen badly and lost two fish i found under the towels when everything was dry. what a ride they must have had at about a hundred threw the hose then get stepped on by me and the kids trying to dry it all up. ooops

This really made me laugh for some reason. I can only imagine the fish going super fast through the hose then ending up under towels, terrible, anyway sorry for your losses.

The last mistake I made was moving fish into another tank and not adding dechlorinator because I didn't have any. It wasn't that much water but I did lose some fish.

THIS SHOULD BE STICKIED!

Another one of mine was when i got my first baby senegal, i felt it was a good idea to put a taxidermied gator head in the tank, it was only like 6 in long. within an hour i realized it was a bad bad idea nothing really bad happened but if i left in in there overnight i can only imagine how nasty the water would be

Tumbling my first batch of 25 moba fry from eggs to free swimming, kept the tumbler in the main aquarium with 8+" fish and my 14" alpha. Coming downstairs the next morning to see the tumbler broken in two on the sand. $750 worth of fry eaten =( That one still stings. Although I later found and rescued a 2" fry who somehow managed to survive the holocaust.

Regarding my fishkeeping, getting married. Went from 30 tanks to 1, and now on shoestring budget.

Had my tank's in the garage. Winter came and I moved my bigger tank and was like Meh I'll get the small tank tomorrow. That night the temperature dropped huge and there was a huge snow storm. The little heater wasn't strong enough to keep the water warm enough. Lost a goldfish(weird) a platy , a ram. I still have the sword tail, he didn't seem to mind the rapid temp drop. I'll never have that problem again but if I was ever planning on keeping tanks where it'll get cold I'll move them in advance.
