got an ikea stand for my 1st tank (30g) 3 months later I needed a new carpet and a new tank.
got a better and bigger tank after with a real stand so you can look at that 2 ways.

Lol. Pretty sure he means aluminum oxide which is used in older glass heaters and some newer to disperse the heat evenly without cracking the glass.

Better off using a soldering iron lol

i knew absolutely nothing about fish and crammed a bunch of stuff into a 10gallon tank...

inhabitants included:

senegal bichir
ghost knife
arowana
blue crawfish
upside down catfish

all were doing relatively well....until....i added a flowerhorn....game...over. -_-. to this day i still feel bad for all the lives lost. needless to say i do tons of research before i choose tankmates now >.<

Probably not the worst, but one of the first big mistakes i made was using a very large hose to empty the 200G more quickly into a drainage pipe... only problem, the hose was about the same diameter as the pipe and so instead of the water going down the drain, it ended up all over my hardwood floors, and to top it all off, i didn't realize the water was everywhere till 5-10 min later...

So yeah, lots of towels, fans and a dehumidifier later... lesson learned..

Was cleaning my first fish tank when I was a kid and pulled the rocks out to gravel vac. Didnt realize I had a pleco in the tank still and dropped a 5lb rock square on the poor guy. He was basically in shock for a while but otherwise okay and actually made a full recovery. Had him for years after that and havent dropped rocks on any of my fish since

Bought an over capacity auto feeder, released too much food and fouled the water badly and wiping out 70 over pieces of my fish. bad bad experience, so it definitely not the bigger the better in this case. :p

I don’t know whether it is my mistakes or not. Once I put a pleco fish on my tank and it started sucking all my gold fish’s body and all got white spot diseases at once. I couldn’t save all of them so all my gold fishes died at once.

My worst mistake was when I dropped my ash try in cichlid tank, killed my new blue pindani and a Mino so I transferred the fish to my brothers tank (5 other cichlids 2 upside down cats, 5 clams, and a blue lobster) then a clam died and a few days later my blue lobster died, had him over a year about 6 inches was maybe 2 inches when I got him, I forgot we had treated his tank for ick at least a week before, he was the biggest thing in the tank so idk I think it was the ick solution tho:/
