Am glad am not the only idiot. ( naah maybe i am the biggest idiot so far)
Bought a Metal wire(something like that) Tried to use it as filter media, it rusted and the water became poisoned and acidic, Only my biggest oscar survived, lost 1 jack dempsey and 2 jags and 2 other oscar died of an unknown fungus two days later. It was the biggest lost ever, i tried to give up on the hobby thinking i'm not meant to keep fish.
But i re started, LESSON LEARNED, DO NOT USE THING THAT DOESN'T CONCERN AQUARIUMS ETC.

my biggest mistake was putting my RTC which was smaller then my arrow at the time with my 8" arow even though i thought my 150g tank was big enough....i come home from work one day and i see the arow in the RTC's mouth...yeah never again.

I had ordered an Ornate bichir, they told me it would come in at 6 in. and i had a 4 in. senegal bichir named finarfin (lord of the rings haha). the thing came in at 8 inches and i was quite hesitant to put them together but i ended up doing it, and it was perfectly fine for a couple weeks, then all of the sudden no finarfin. i looked all around the tank to make sure he didnt jump out somehow, through the heater or filter hole but nope. Totally eaten, and i didnt think hed fit in the ornates mouth but after some investigation i found bichirs have powerful jaws that can crush fish down to size so be careful with em

I'm usually irritated when I receive a fish smaller then the vendor advertised, I guess there's that end of the spectrum too though lol

Bought a RTC baby, fed him lots of beef heart and blood worms, shrimps etc... lots of $$ ...he grows too large for me to have and stupid me doesn't have space to upgrade so I give my now year old 20$ baby back to the fish store I got him from and they turn around and sell him for 100$ at 2.5'+ long. Jerks. I won't do that again, they just get way too big. They knew I only had a 80 gallon, they had no business letting me buy him. Sad sad times.
