That sucks I can't imagine it being harder then walking into a sporting goods store and forking over 50$ haha

Gonna go ice fishing this weekend hopefully! Primary target; catch and release big pike!

Here are the pictures of friday, was busy this weekend so didn't have much time to post em.
Caught a total of 10 pike,(I caught 3, my friend caught 7) and 3 perch.
Was a disappointing day though, I broke my brandnew Shimano Nexave reel at the start of the day so I could only use one rod to fish.
I also hooked a big zander that managed to unhook himself while we where preparing the net.
My Friend on the other hand had a great day, banged 7 pike including some above average size.
Starting with the first one of 2014,

So started this year small, with gives me the advantage that the next pike i will catch are probably bigger;)

Zongshen Selva Marine can provide 2-stroke 2/3/4/5/6/8/9.9/15/20/25/30/35/40HP, 4-stroke 8/9.9/20HP outboard engines and inflatable boats from 2.0m to 4.7m for angling/fishing for a better life we enjoy on the water. as sole manufacturer in China ,sharing Italy Selva’s mature manufacturing experiences, technology, original moulds & drawings ,high quality with competitive prices. more info you can add Skype: nicole.lee0208 to talk on line.

Finally had a day off yesterday and decided to spend this day as well as possible, I called my friend and we went pikehunting in some ditches .
It the same waterway in which I caught the skinny 114cm pike last time.
Since these ditches are only 30-45cms deep, It was best to use surface lures like poppers, but I decided to first try out a classic lure.
Its from the brand Salmo and is called the Salmo Pike Jointed, It dives to about 30-50cms deep which makes it perfect for shallow waters.
We started at the same place like last time and pretty soon there is a fish on my line.
Turned out it was the same pike as last time, took some photos of this 114cm beast and quickly released it back in to it's territory.
It was really weird to hook the same pike again, because my buddy and I thought it would die due to the massive scar on it's gill.
Ended the day with 5 pike's total, but I lost a bigger one as my friend was trying to get it in the net and he lost a fish that's at least 100cms long.
We will go back to this water in the hope to catch these bigger fish next time.

Here is another look at the pike from 114cm, Took a close up of the fish it's head.
Sad to say, but this wound is probably from some inexperienced fishermen that used a lipgrip on this fish without supporting it.

Other catches, maybe smaller in size but they where all bulked up for breeding season:

Went fishing yesterday with a friend, decided to go deadbait fishing with sardines.
I didn't have any action on my lines but he banged this 109cm 12kg (26lbs) monsterpike:

Went fishing yesterday, I haven't fished in quite some time and I needed to do some maintenance on my outboard motor which took my quite some time.
Since the watertemperatures are up due to a soft winter and high temperatures pikes have become more active, While this is a good thing to catch pike in high numbers. It's a bad thing to hunt the monsters.
So it's time to change tactics and switch from hunting monsters to trolling for large amount of pike.
Something that worked out all to well yesterday, We banged a total of 13 pike's 1 perch and 1 zander.
I caught myself a total of 8pike including one large specimen. My friend banged his personal record zander.
here are the pictures of yesterday:

It seems that these northern pikes are so thick, what is the main forage fish in that canal?
