It seems that these northern pikes are so thick, what is the main forage fish in that canal?
Thanks mate!
Well at first you need to know that its not just one canal, all the waters I am fishing in are connected with each other, where I'll be fishing in deep lakes or small ditches, close to home or 50kms away, everything is connect into one big waterway.
It's mostly human made, a few hundred years ago all the transport in my state was done with ships, so every city, village and lake was connected.
The main forage fish in these canals are roach, bream, perch and carp although you also find many other species of fish.
During the colder periods the preyfish like roach and bream search for warmer water, they usually leave the deeper waters and move to warmer waters like small ports, shallow ditches our outskirts from cities or villages. Naturally Pike and Zander will follow there prey and since there is such and abundance of prey and they have little effort catching them. They are starting to grow really thick. 10kg+ pikes are common here.
