Here I have found an interesting article. The first of its type. A man in 2015 caught a ~4ft 39 lb (18 kg, 1.3m) Silurus Merdionalis in the Yangtze. It’s quite interesting since he says it’s the biggest fish he’s ever caught. It’s terrible since the Yangtze at one point or another had some of the largest fish ever like the Chinese paddle fish. Here’s the article. Includes a picture of a fish that does not match the mottled color I’ve seen in others. I’d assume this fish is well over 20 years old.
Here’s another very interesting thing I found. Apparently both Amur and Chinese wels have been released into certain parts of Vietnam. I found a video of Vietnamese men catching some.
Good news today is I can keep the wels. I have a buddy who will be paid to come clean and change water on a schedule. I have a 150 for him waiting to be plumbed.

I’ve increased water changes, and plan to increase filtration. He’s almost the size of my forearm. Definitely growing once again. Water temp has been about 50-60 degrees.
